The bug tracker didn't recognise 18w21a as a valid version so I had to use 1.13+ which was the only version it would allow me to enter in the box ...

Multiplayer brokenWhy did Windows 7 not produce a firewall popup
We have a mixture of devices, a Lenovo android tab, two PC's running windows 10 and a couple of Nintendo Switches.
If we create a world on any of these devices and other devices are on the same WiFi network, running minecraft, and logged into their microsoft accounts, the local multiplayer world will not normally appear.
Occasionally, after several minutes, the game might appear on other devices, but not always. If it does, it will either time out trying to connect, or the connection will fail a few minutes after joining the game.
Using the find other players option from another device will correctly report that the player is playing minecraft on their device, but that game will not be visible to join.
– YES, I have checked that the multiplayer options are set correctly in the device running the game!
--YES, we are all running the latest version of Minecraft on each device.
--
We have tried hosting games on every device and then tried to join from different devices, nothing like this works--We have tried
using different WiFi networks. This doesn't help either.I would estimate that 90% of the time the game will not appear as a local multiplayer at all, and of the 10% when it does, half of those times it will time out when attempting to join.

Well I ended up using TNT to try and find it so the whole stronghold is wrecked now.
The seed is -1682121092 (MC WIN10)
Coordinates of stronghold -950 20 -388
Why are unreleased versions available as an option then?

When I set the launcher to remain open after the game starts I found that the launcher was crashing. We have used previous snapshots on this machine without problems. After encountering this issue for the first time I updated Java to the latest version, but it did not fix the problem.
Ok, so it was 18w22a not 18w21b . . .
Disabling windows firewall made no difference.
How do I attach a crash report when the game has not crashed?
latest.log
Ok, its working now. For some reason windows firewall on the windows 7 machine had blocked the Java exe for minecraft. The pop up I saw on the windows 10 machine was the same issue but the win7 machine didn't produce an alert so I only discovered it by manually adding an exception for java.exe in the runtime/bin folder for the minecraft installation. I'm curious about why the latest snapshot would trigger this when it was the only thing that had changed on either machine - we had played 1.13-pre3 a few days before with no problems. Nothing new had been installed on either machine and Java was already at the latest version.
There you go, I changed the title to "Why did Windows 7 not produce a firewall popup" Does that make things better?
If I had known before I filed the bug report that it was an issue over MC interacting with windows firewall then I would have indicated it in the title at the time . . . in fact I probably wouldn't have filed it as a bug report at all, wouldn't I.
On windows 10 it was a pop up - it kicked MC off fulscreen mode - on windows 7 there was no pop up or pop under at all, the entire thing was handled in the background with no dialog boxes appearing - hence the mystery and confusion over the cause of the issue.
Hopefully others haven't hit this issue but if they have then this report may come up when they search for a solution and they won't think its a bug and file more reports.
We have had the same issue. The game won't work on any Amazon Fire tabs or on our ipad 2. It did work on a Tesco HUDL but then crashed after 20 min and I had to disconnect the battery to recover the tab (That one may have been a thermal issue though)
This has started happening on my sons fire tablet so now he is locked out of our family realm. We get an error code called pufferfish.
This issue makes Wither battles almost impossible on the Nintendo switch. We have a realm for our family and I have had to go in on my laptop several times now and clean up because my kids switch lags so badly it becomes unplayable. The only workaround we have for our realm is to not fight Withers at all, which is a shame, and a serious issue for any game if its impossible to fight the ultimate boss because it is poorly implemented.
Perhaps there needs to be a mechanic where Wither detonations create clumps of dropped items that all share a single animation, and these clumps, when close together, will also merge - so instead of having ten dirt blocks all dropped and animated, they clump together and appear as a single dirt stack with a slightly altered look. Clumping and stacking like this could reduce CPU and memory load by an order of magnitude or more.
-> "Blocks hit by wither skulls are affected by Wither Magnetism and will clump together into stacks when dropped"
This should not be marked as invalid because it is an issue with Realms - this happens when an upload to the realm fails, causing the realm server to crash and become unavailable.
