Renaming a book and quil in an anvil makes it so you cant write in the book.
Steps to create bug:
1.Get a book and quil
2. Rename it in an anvil to anything.
3. Then try to write in it.NOTE: I did this in multiplayer bukkit 1.6.2. I dont know if it makes a difference but I thought i should mention that.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to Video Settings
2. Change Mipmap to 0 or 1
3. Thats it...
So heres how the worldborder is normally.

Looks like thats because its just plain out /summon FallingSand.
I don't think this is a duplicate because his command didn't include the Time NBT so it's supposed to despawn right away. Someone corrected this in the comments. http://prntscr.com/4qsouk

I remember a while back water lakes were removed from Deserts. I think with 1.7 updating the biomes removed this feature.

If this cannot be reproduced and is obviously happening to other players why don't you reopen that one or make this the main one?
Still not fixed.
It says +NBT but when placed goes to a steve skin.
I created a resource pack and the custom sounds using sounds.json only works in 1.7 versions but not 1.8.
Edit: To test this the sounds I made were for witches so spawn witches in on both 1.7 and 1.8

It's a customized world with the biome set as desert. Just by flying around you'll easily see lakes.
I don't believe it being a customized world makes a difference.
I created a new default world. Here:
Seed: 4286882424063396370
Cords:
-119 70 32
349 78 1475
249 72 1531
Surprisingly its more often in customized worlds and a little less often in default worlds.
