I agree but since underwater treasures are very rare too (correct me if I'm wrong), locating treasures too far away means searching the unloaded chunks, which means further chunks should be loaded to locate treasures. That may cause time lag and degrade performance.

It's like activating several normal maps from the same spot, they're all different (and don't update each other), but show all the same area.
Not very useful like that if you carefully try each cartographer before any exploration, but if changed, you could lose all access to this nearest unexplored map by a simple villager death.
