This issue happened to me while working on a texture pack:
The armor textures support transparency just fine, however once you enchant them only the "highest priority" part stays transparent, it's best to visualize this with screenshots(check the Attachment):
1. No Armor, fine
2. Diamond Armor, fine
3. Encahnted Diamond Armor, bug, only the chestplate is transparent.
4. Enchanted Diamond Helmet only, fine.
5. Enchanted Diamond Helmet & Shoes, bug, only shoes are transparent.
6. Enchanted Diamond Helmet & Shoes & Pants, bug, only pants are transparent.
As you can see it feels like there's some kind of "priority" system going on here, highest to lowest being Chestplate, Pants, Shoes, Helmet.
Edit:
Transparency doesn't seem to work on armor stands at all
If a Minecart goes up a Hill, in a setup like this:
.....R
RRD
DDD
D being Dirt Block and R being Rail, it will quickly face the wrong direction by 90 degrees if on the topmost "Top of the Mountain" Rail Block before being correct again.
This is noticeable on both, when going up and down the hill, also noticeable in first person when inside theminecart although there it feels like the rotation is only 45 degrees.
Oddly enough, it looks like Minecarts turn almost 180 degrees after going off track. If a Minecart goes up a Hill, in a setup like this:

The Leather Armor Top part seems to be rendnered brighter than any of the sides, you can see this effect if you apply your skin to the armors and then compare it at the inventory screen.
Edit:
Looks like it affects the leather chestplate, and as such all leather armor.
r543 Do you refer to this post here by Mr. Broes on Mojira's Reddit for MC-30445?
Well from what I've heard, they initially planned to have all old "data values" removed already in 1.12 and it seems they're aiming now for 1.13, as for the block ID update - what I mean by that example is: Good stuff needs a good amount of time
It isn't easy to implement such a huge change into the current code, I've read a few times that the "code crumbled away" under some Devs' fingers when they tried to add something cool ![]()
Also, I suppose they're still aiming for feature parity, which means that a change in Java-MC would possibly also have to be somehow implemented in the versions for other platforms, which would involve even more Devs who are maybe busy with (and have to prioritise) other stuff currently.. who knows.
But I recently read something about being able to change the Sky colours and foliage etc. in MAYBE 1.13 via Vanilla means (no MCPatcher/Optifine).. ah, found it, it was Mr. Broes on Reddit ![]()
And here another Reddit-reply of Mr. Bergensten, involving future respack plans ![]()
TLDR: It might often not seem that way, but some Devs actually care about some really neat future additions, but adding them isn't always possible due to various reasons, sometimes needing more time than initially planned.
I can only ask you (and others) for some more patience
)
And sending some Love every now and then to the Devs might also help to encourage them in continue caring ![]()
r543 Did you not read what I wrote? ![]()
PS: Optifine gives you loads of settings you cna adjust, the creator seems to implement all functions of former MCPatcher step by step, if I remember the changelogs correctly over the past few years. That being said, it'd be nice to have in Vanilla, but about that, just read again what I wrote.

Not to sound rude, but this is still a issue(in past when MCpatcher, a 3rd party thing, was still supported, you could use it to change the foilage AND water color, which worked nice), does Mojang ever intend to fix this?
Last post I've found was from a year ago, stating that Mojang wants to give texture pack creators more freedom regarding colors, yet still nothing has happened, come on, allow us to customize those hardcoded colors.
Edit: more related to the Swamp & Mesa colors, but since those are all "Resolved" I decided to ask here, hope it isn't too rude.
Oh sorry I wasn't aware that was alraedy posted.
And yeah. I did make it transparent, aiming to get some kind of "crystal armor"
Any news regarding this?
Don't want to sound rude but it's been a year and nothing.
With MCpatcher being no longer updated there's really no way for texture pack artists to do stuff and it would be nice if Mojang allowed us to edit more hardcoded colors(such as light, leather armor, particles, potions, and so on)
Can confirm this in 1.12, was wondering about it myself when I saw the texture and it's still the case.
Hope it gets fixed soon, even if texture packs can fix it so to say.
Was this bug there ever since the addition of Iron Golems?
Hello, I did think that, unfortunately at the time of writing this I didn't have time for screenshots.
Think one can understand the issue with it's description but it's one of those typical issues where you'll understand it once you've seen it, and I planned to upload images for this later anyways, as I like to be clear with the issue.
Hope this didn't come over as bad
In the images I've uploaded, you can see the effect in the following way:
armorbrightness1.png
The left side has my skin while the right side has the helmet with the exact same color on(this is a demo skin/helmet to demonstrate the issue), as you can see the front part of the head is exactly the same, however the top one is slightly lighter(this is probably more noticeable with other colors and on the overworld).
armorbrightness2.png
Shows it in the overworld, the top brightness of the green armor as well as on the shoulders should be visible, you can also see it on other colors.
armorbrightness3.png
Comparison of the Skin vs Armor, you can't see the top of the head but as you can see on the shoulders, something is different, once again it's also shown on the other colors.
