My daughter has been crying over losing her level 90 character, and not being able to play with the family any more.
PS4 non-Pro
App updated to latest version as of July 19, 2020.
No USB harddrives.
A lot of harddrive space is available.
No character clones were every made.
Game crashes every few sessions. But not sure if this deletion is correlated with a crash.
There was no 'data corruption' error message
Main character (with PSN account) was not deleted, nor was a second account (non-PSN) that was playing. The third account's (non-PSN) character was deleted.
I don't know how this can be prioritized as 'low', given the entire point of the game is to level up characters. And there is no workaround, such as by backing up characters, since Minecraft Dungeons doesn't support backups for non-PSN accounts. The deletion problem should be fixed, or the crashes fixed, or a reliable automatic rolling backup method should be added, or at least a manual backup method should be added.
My children lost 2 characters to this exact bug! We just lost my son's level 160 character, and weeks ago my daughter lost her level 140 character. She was in tears!
It is absurd that this bug is still present.
1) it makes the game unplayable. We will never play it again.
2) it is reproducible. Your QA team should be able to easily reproduce it.
3) There is no work around - On the PS4 there is no option to back characters up. There isn't a recovery option.
If my engineering team at work had a bug like this, we would be working continuously to fix it. It might seem like a small bug based on the activity of this ticket, but there are other active threads about PS4 character deletions which are probably related.
Second time my kids lost a character! This time it was level 160. It is absurd that not only a bug of this severity has existed this long, but there isn't even a work around such as by auto-backing up and allowing restores. On the PS4 there is nothing you can do.
The entire point of the game is to level up. This makes the game unusable.
Has the QA team reproduced it? Have the developers looked at other similar character loss bugs for hints (we might have actually been hit by the skin change and cancel bug: MCD-4026)
