This is not only related to villagers. This is related to farm animals (neutral mobs) as well. I started noticing about a year ago (MC 1.0 / 1.1) that my farm animals would crowd the northwest corner of their pens instead of staying evenly distributed. This is most easily noticed with sheep, because the northwest corner of their enclosure will be completely dirt where other corners will will be completely grass.
Still happening in 1.4.6. My sister took a screenshot and I recorded a little 10 second clip to show the ridiculous PIG PILE that happened on top of a ladder on the west side of my pig enclosure. Hilarious, but definitely needs to be fixed.
I've seen something like this while knocking paintings or item frames off the wall. Sometimes they land quite far away from where you would expect them to land
Confirmed with 1.4.7. They fixed the "dogs randomly warping to you" but this new issue started happening immediately after. Same with tamed cats. I'm on a whitelisted SMP server with 3 active players and it has happened to all of us. We don't use dogs or cats anymore because this is a game-breaking bug for them.
This is the most convincing argument I've seen for these symptoms that I've seen to date, which combined with the animals-escaping-pen (which was recently supposedly fixed), meant animal enclosures were very hard to manage. I run a Bukkit server and have seen evidence of this numerous times; conveniently, there exists a large square pen with sheep, which leave evidence (in the form of eaten grass) which is viewable on DynMap, proving that they have migrated mostly north-west, but also north-east. See attached picture.
I've been getting this for a while and finally decided to search for it. You don't even need multiple accounts for this to happen. A common workflow for me personally is that I make something on singleplayer creative and then copy my build in multiplayer survival onto a server (one Minecraft running full screen on each of my dual monitors).
If I log in and open a 1.7.2 singleplayer world and then open a second launcher with a 1.6.4 for multiplayer, the multiplayer one has the Bad Login error. As a workaround, I must connect to the 1.6.4 server FIRST and then open the second launcher for singleplayer and then everything works fine. Very annoying!
I'm running a vanilla 1.7.4 client but a Bukkit 1.7.2 dev server but I would think the exit criteria would be something that happened client-side. When I press shift to exit a Minecart, I either appear correctly on top of the Minecart or on the other side of a wall next to the rails. Similar case with boats where I exit the boat and appear several blocks away and the boat becomes a ghost entity and I have to sign off and back on to see where the boat actually is.
Still in 1.7.4 (vanilla client, bukkit server) and even worse than before now that it is common for terrain to generate up this high. Tried to sleep on top of a mountain and it appears that I fell into the void so I pressed Leave Bed and luckily appeared back on land but with the "crunchy knees" damage sound.
EDIT: This is probably because Java's "byte" is a signed -128 to 127, so when it teleports the player from the position they right clicked the bed from to the position of being on the bed, the y coordinate has an overflow. I would be curious if putting a bed at y=256 would teleport you to approximately y=0 when you were sleeping.
@Manuel Gwosdz: Or it was possible that the server was calculating it correctly and the client was whom was wrong. Just pointing it out since I'm getting the same behavior as this vanilla defect.
So when you shear the map in 1.9 to zoom in, it chooses the bottom right quadrant. How do you zoom in to the other quadrants? I could not figure out how to get the closest zoom of the upper left quadrant, for example.
This is also happening in 1.14.3 when being ejected by an activator rail. I have a 2.5 block high ceiling to protect against Enderman in The End. I've got the wiring for the activator rail in a 1-block high space under the minecart tracks and the majority of the time it teleports me to this area in the swimming position.
The dismounting entities and they disappear is probably related but maybe a different bug. I also experience the occasional boat dismount where the boat appears to vanish, and sometimes I even get stuck in the air above it. But signing off and back on makes everything normal. The same happens with a horse. Sometimes I get off a horse and it goes away, but if I sign off and back on, it's walking around right there.
Tested with 1.15.1. It no longer gets the fatal server-crashing exception, but the server log does get spammed by dozens of messages about invalid structure reference. I also noticed that even though I've visited End Cities before, I got the "The City at the End of the Game" achievement again.

Just ran into this myself with 1.7.10. You can put a torch above the fence but can't put the an frame.
