Benjaming Ivanka Bloigu - We're tracking a performance hit in 1.14 for Linux against BDS-2574. You should find that running the same server on Windows provides far better performance on the current version.
As far as multi-threading goes, while BDS will spin up threads for some workloads the main game loop still runs on a single thread. For example below is an example of my server with 3 active players and a huge villager hall (which has a huge CPU impact at the moment). The highlighted core is the main thread.
Because we've already raised poor linux performance with the devs under BDS-2574 I'm going to ask that this be duplicated into that.
Steve - If you believe you're having issues you will need to open your own report however I would suggest checking your individual cores before doing so. The i7 2700k has a far lower capacity than the i7-8700 shown in my picture and as you can see, with 3 people online and a villager trading hall my main game thread had the core at 30%. I'd expect that at 10-15 hoomans my server would also start lagging and its far more capable than your chip. Your issue is likely more a technical/optimization one rather than a bug.

I'm playing on a fairly standard world with between 5 to 15 other players and it sometimes runs very slowly despite the CPU usage also being low.
It's an old Xeon but it is effectively 3 * i7 2700k CPUs, with 32GB of RAM and Windows 10 so it should have no trouble whatsoever running just this one world. Server.properties max threads is set to 12.
I have to keep killing entities, any more than around 300 and the ticks per second becomes noticeably low. Ticking area has been scaled back to 4 chunks but it still performs very poorly.
Like Benjamin, I get better performance on a mundane PC
We've lost two worlds to this issue.
Please resolve ASAP
I wish we could all roll back to 1.16.40
We've had to close a world down because of how badly BDS (and client platforms) are now running. This is on Windows 10 with a Ryzen 3600.
It's vastly improved in 1.16.200. Block and sound lag is gone, our server doesn't crash every 2 hours and RTX is working in multiplayer.
I got somewhere with NVIDIA Control Panel -> Manage 3D Settings -> Power management mode -> Prefer maximum performance.
However it's still nothing like as good as it used to be. My base area lags much more than it used too. Turning the render distance or resolution down does nothing to improve it.
Edit: Forgot to mention - before I did this, my RTX 3080 was running around half speed when playing Minecraft. Other users on reddit are also reporting their cards running at low speeds.
I have the following command in the end:
tp @a[x=-10000,y=-100,z=-10000,dx=20000,dy=130,dz=20000] 3 65 -6
This was designed to save people from the void in the end, because those return gateways sometimes TP people to the void (but that's the subject of another complaint).
The problem is that it now TPs people in the overworld and nether.

Before 1.18.10 that command would have stopped working as soon as I entered the nether.
I've tried 3 different RTX resource packs, they all have this issue.
In my case it doesn't happen every time I leave a world with RTX off, but it will 100% happen if I leave the world with RTX off and close the game. The next time I go in to a world and enable RTX, everything is shiny.
I have tried this and found that the application hangs on the Loading Resources screen when I quit an RTX enabled world. I was unable to regain use of the desktop, and unable to even do a normal restart or shutdown (even by using the power button). Ended up having to reset the computer without a clean shutdown, which is not good.
CPU: Intel i9 9900k
GPU: Geforce RTX3800 Ti
RAM: 32GB 3200MHz
Storage: 512GB M.2 SSD.
I sometimes get this crash when loading the game. It gets to around 65% then the screen flashes red for a second and it quits back to the desktop. The same windows log is generated.
The next time I try to start the game it will load, but it will tell me that my "global resources have been reset" however they are still set to active in the global resources menu, but will become inactive the next time I load the game if I don't deactivate and reactivate them.
The simplest solution is to uninstall the game and never play it again.
"Won't fix" This is a game ruining bug. How are decisions like this made?
This should be fixed.
Even if the pots cannot take PBR textures, they should still be visually non-glitched. It's two different issues.
When crouching, the selected block (the one with the outline) is the same as if you were standing. So basically it's not changing the selected block when you crouch.
This hasn't been resolved, I still get this issue in 1.19.73
Affects version 1.20.71
