Yeah highest current count of entities is 73 and it is indeed lagging now as I write.
Also it isn't at all frame lag. No one is having FPS lag, just server lag.
That is what I thought initially.
But I kicked everyone off to try yesterday, and just me on the server still had some lag.
I am the only one on currently as well and have lag right now. (and I am playing in one spot )
Yep 100% Vanilla.
Nope never a bukkit server, the world started on 13w39b and then continued from there.
The server isn't too popular so, nothing special like mob farms or anything.
If you want I can invite you on so you can get a feel for what I am talking about?
As of now I think I fixed my situation,
I used a world trimmer, and got rid of unused chunks.
I then loaded the world back up, and it still had lag.
I then shut it down - Deleted my Data folder within the world folder.
Loaded the server back up, and it's fixed.
Maybe maps were causing lag?
Just to be sure.. everyone here has tried deleting the data folder within their world folder? It worked magic for me, and a few others.
This could either be due to the mine shafts or the maps causing the lag.
I am glad it wasn't just me. However when I first created this report I was running on an older world file - I created a new one and since then only get this same issue maybe once every 72 hours or so? I just then simply restart the server and all is well.
It seemed to help by making that new world, however I did change at the same time the -nogui option.
I feel like it wasn't due to the nogui though, because I know I once tried that on the old world. Maybe this will help some of you?
Happens in any gamemode as long as you click fast enough... (a clicking macro makes TONS)
Thanks.
I can confirm what DaMaloma said.
Can confirm My Eff 4 shovel isnt digging as fast as it was, however I only started noticing this in 32b
A little work around, and interesting result: if you open all your chests and use F3+A (reload chunks) OR F3+T (reload textures) they will reappear instead of having to block update each one.
I would have expected them to disappear again due to the reloading.
Weird, I ALSO just realized - open all of your chests, look away then look back... boom they are there? haha very weird activity here.
Same problem.
My pickaxe is perfectly fine? It's diamond, and has unbreaking 3 on it too.
Can confirm, still an issue in 1.8.1 through 1.8.2 pre-4
Here are videos exemplifying the issue.

Can confirm having this issue on a current Realm, playing cross platform with many players and having very low spawn rates, if at all. - Built many dark areas and literally get 0 hostile spawns.
Also tested this on a local world, same issue.
Also experience this issue. Can confirm on my Realm.
Confirmed on Xbox One S, playing on a Realm with many others.
I am having this issue on each of my platforms.
Windows 10,
Android
iOS,
Switch,
Xbox One
"You are almost out of data storage space! Minecraft has restricted access to this feature until you clear up additional storage space."
Cannot download my realm world/backups.
Also have this issue, often. Seems to come and go.
Also have this issue on multiple devices/platforms.
I have this issue when downloading items, as well as when I try to download my Realm world.
I have the same issue, across all consoles/platforms.
I have the same issue, across all consoles/platforms on 1.12.1
I have the same issue, across all consoles/platforms on 1.12.1
Hey guys, remember to vote for this issue so it gets some better visibility!
Thanks!
@Bjorn Kohnen I will try your suggestion later today!
@Jonas darn, that is a bummer to hear!
I am still having this issue, even after testing many different things.
I tested closing the realm, and starting it again. The issue STILL took place.
I tested it with downloading and replacing the world. The issue still took place.
I tested it with playing for shorter periods of time. The issue still took place.
I am quite bummed; as this basically makes realms un-usable unless I want to sit idle for 30min+ before logging off.
Ironically, I wonder if daylight savings time change helped this bug, or made it worse.
Anyone experiencing different results now? Or is is the same thing?
Try switching to the world, then downloading it.
If that doesn't work, try downloading it again later.
My THEORY is this:
The realm is like a private server, that most likely reserves a certain amount of storage space for each entire set of realm data in the cloud (this includes, the account, the realm configuration data, as well as the textures and resources If they need to be attached to the world. ) AS WELL AS the actual chunk data.
I am going to guess that as the realm is explored/played on, and as multiple players log on, you are probably dedicated some additional "world" space each time you log in.
If you get close to your cap, I bet the server shuts down, and expands the dedicated storage, and then puts it back up.
I am also guessing that every so often the realm "shuts down" defragments the data a little, purges off chunks that weren't modified during last play, and then republishes the realm. (this is usually triggered by no players logging in for X amount of time.)
Then I think the issue comes in to play with their download/storage limits, and the realm is unable to allocate enough storage for a temporary copy of the world put into a zip file.
It is at this time I believe the error to be triggered from. Something about SERVER storage limits and allocation.
I wanted to download my realm world, modify the world files and republish.
I got my world to download by just getting lucky with timing, all of a sudden after I gave up on trying to download the world. The next time I went to do it, it let me.
The time after that? Wouldn't let me until I loaded the world back up and played on it for a bit.
