MC-133546Player becomes "ghost" when dying in the nether or going through the end portal back to the overworld
When the player dies for any reason in the nether when they re-spawn in the overworld they temporarily become a "ghost player" (ghost player meaning they cannot interact with entities and blocks). This also happens when you leave the end through the end portal going back to the overworld. If you re-log after returning to spawn in either case, the player is not saved at their spawn, but instead put back where they were before the action that caused their return to spawn (i.e. death or end portal). This has affected 1.13-pre4 through the current version.

The same happens to me (when dying in the end; I didn't try the nether). I'm using 1.13.
One more detail: Afer some time (around 2 min?) living as a ghost player, I get teleported back to the bed where I re-spawned after dying. Most of the time, from then on the game works normally again, but twice (out of 10 or so) I still was a ghost player. (But again, after 2 more min, I got teleported back etc. and things became normal.)
Another detail (just in case it's useful for finding the bug): When I go back to the end (quickly) after having become a non-ghost again, all items I lost while dying have disappeared. From this, I guess that the server is ticking the end while I'm a ghost.
Edit: I discovered a new effect which happened several times to me, when, after dying in the end and having become a ghost player, I left the game right away and started it again. I was back in the end, but only once (of 4 or 5 times I did this), I was dead. The other times, I was living, sometimes standing just where I had died, and sometimes, the game had been "rewinded" by a small amount of time, maybe 10 or 20 secs or so.

MC-135203is the same bug. (Maybe the point is not that one dies in a different dimension but that one respawns in a chunk that is not loaded while dying?)I think you're right Immanuel Halupczok. I've been mucking about a lot lately in creative worlds, teleporting all about, killing myself, y'know, the usual. And dying very far from your spawn just causes this ghosty glitchy lag-spikey... thing, to happen. It takes ages to really respawn.
Maybe it's also the same as
MC-92916? Or at least related to it?The problem I was having with leaving the end through the end portal and respawning in the overworld and becoming a "ghost player" is fixed in snapshot 18w31a.
