Endermen stop moving, if you look at their face even when they're already in hostile mode
Endermen freeze and stop moving, if you look at their face, even when they are already hostile.
They should only freeze when you're looking at their face when they're neutral and are turning hostile.
How to reproduce:
- Make sure you're in survival mode.
- Make sure the Enderman is already hostile towards you.
- Place your crosshair at the Enderman's head.
- --> The Enderman freezes in place
(So in short, for neutral endermen this works as it should, but not for hostile endermen.)

This seems to be intentional behavior. It is mentioned at Slicedlime's video.

I think Henrik fixed the original bug. The behavior when looking at their face is different from 20w22 when compared to 1.16-pre2.
It has instead been replaced with a worse version of MC-159757 where Enderman are now even unable to teleport when looked at, making them completely defenseless to the player as long as you look at them.
A new worse version of MC-159757. Not only are Endermen unable to move when looked at (when they are already hostile, not neutral), but they are now also unable to teleport as well. (They will now teleport if you get too close, or try to hit them though -20w28a)
Half-fixed in 20w28a. They can no longer be damaged when frozen, since they teleport away before any damage is dealt. You can still abuse this bug to hide/escape from Endermen by keeping your crosshair locked onto their face while walking backwards.
This seems to be intentional behavior because this was a fix for
MC-71256which was released in 19w11a. It was also mentioned at another video made by Slicedlime.Yes, but is it intended that they stop moving if you look at their face again? The question is: Are they supposed to only freeze when being looked at initially or at any time, even if they're hostile?
When the stare behavior was first added they only froze when looked at initially. (You can test this in 1.7.2 for example)
Then it got bugged in later versions
Now that the stare behavior got re-added/fixed this is completely new behavior
Affects 20w22a.
Re-open this issue, as it's not clearly intended after they're already turned hostile.
You can test this in the older versions like 14w05b or 1.7.2 where it's not present. It's never been a thing any older version.
Still a problem in 1.16.3. Was watching someone struggle killing an Enderman while standing on a pillar because the Enderman didn't come to the player after being hit, because the player was looking at them, so they didn't come any closer - and the player didn't understand, so they had to jump down to kill them.
