I just downloaded Minecraft Java Edition yesterday but it the game wont let me play on any online server at all. Every time I try to join a server it says "Failed to log in: The authentication servers are currently down for maintenance." Even though the servers are not down.

A number of reports indicate that this may be a problem with authentication for Microsoft accounts.
These reports indicate that they bought the game using a Microsoft account on or after 1 December:

Is there anyone who bought the game on or after 1 December and can access servers?
This may not be a bug within Minecraft itself, but it may be a valid issue with the Mojang authentication servers.
This is a current bug with microsoft accounts. Log out and use a mojang account.
I tried making multiple mojang accounts before but they never let me log in on the website also would I need to purchase minecraft again on a different account?
