MC-33083Phantom lava and water sometimes remain
This may be a duplicate, but all the old (fixed) 'MC-4631' and related issues are flooding my search results. After placing and removing lava, I found a single ghost lava block that persisted, made sounds and particles, and added the flame effect but did not burn me when I stepped into it.
Hard to reproduce; suspect a server/client glitch. I think I saw the same with water once, but I wasn't paying proper attention and didn't capture it

Can I assume that if you logout and back in it's gone?
I didn't try that this time, so I can't be certain, but I assume that's what would have happened.
I've just hit the opposite problem too; collected a lava source, re-placed it, and then it disappeared. After logging out and in again it reappeared in its original position.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.7.4 / Launcher version 1.3.6 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

I think this has gone away. Haven't encountered it in a long time.
Resolving again since there are no current reports (1.8.8 or 1.9 snapshots) for this issue
