MC-345when i return from the nether (which the portal is in a village by my house) most of my house is gone on single player and i have no idea why.
i expected my house to be normal when i got back

Destroyed as in random blocks missing, or destroyed as in vanished as if it had never been there?
was the house highly flamable?
nether mobs can now appear in the overworld
so perhaps a blaze or something got through
and caused havoc.
its unlikely but its possible
