"Visually unappealing" is more of an opinion than a bug. This is the intended texture, and the only way it will change is if either Mojang feel the same or you use a resource pack.
ressource packs won't change anything ! See second picture. There is a gap between the textures and i'm pretty sure it's unintended. I mean, why would you want small gaps between textures ?
Still there but only visible with ressource packs that make textures called "glass_pane_top_COLOR" invisible.
Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 13w48b? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
