When you are in spectator mode and you press a hotbar shortcut key (numbers 1-9) you can see the name of the item you selected, just above where the hotbar would be.

Will it be fixed?
If you are looking for a "fix", turn "heldItemTooltips" to false in the options.txt. It disables it in other game modes, but still. Also, in third person (in gamemode three), the items are held incorrectly (in the waist instead of the invisible hand).
PTR_91 yeah but it would be good if it was fixed and your way is kind of tedious and is you wanted the tooltips in other game modes then it's not very good.
Changing the word "true" to "false" in WordPad (or whatever the Mac equivalent of the .txt file editor is) is tedious?
It's just a workaround that doesn't really work. The behavior is a bug.

Please do not mark unreleased versions (anything starting with "Future Version") as affected. You don't have access to them yet.
