Are you sure that it isn't just random?
It's not random, the mob keeps looking back at you
Mobs are always looking randomly at the player, even if he is behind a wall or invisible. Most noticeable with villagers, who "socialize" with each other through walls. It's indeed strange, but fun. And it's not hurting anyone. I would keep it as it is.

Added another, Daniel. The zombie was not attacking me, it's just something before the zombie was. And I added another picture to prove that the zombie is not attacking.
Your client is modded. Can you reproduce this in an unmodded version of Minecraft?
Confirmed in 1.4.7.
Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w08a? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
In 1.8, mobs don't see you when your hand is empty, otherwise they can sue you. In 1.7.4, only a few mobs such as spiders and slimes were unable to see you. However, it seems they no longer look at you.
No longer an issue as of some point during 1.8
Should be Reopened, as it is an issue in 15w51b
