MC-586Beacon light does not travel through water
I was building a block pyramid for my beacon, and when i placed the beacon, the beam wouldn't shoot out. i tried placing a diamond in the beacon, but nothing would work.
P.S. Would it be affected because i'm right underneath the spawn point?

Can confirm. Which is strange, because lava is more opaque than water visually.
Edit: This is not a duplicate of MC-586, that is saying the beacon needs a clear path to the sky. Even if water is intended to block the beacon, lava still does not block it.
Its not duplicated because Dinnerbone says in the issue MC-586 that the beacon need a clear path to the sky to work but lava is blocking the beacon and it is still working :/.

From what I have read and the little playing around with the beacon block, from what I can assert, the beacon block must have a clear path to the sky.
Please edit your summary to something more descriptive. "Beacon block" in itself is not a bug, you may want to change it to something like "Beacon does not work under water" if you believe that is the bug.
It needs a clear path to the sky to function.
