Facing into the wall at a diagonal I'm unable to move up the stairs
if I jump I will go up one stair block then get stuck on the next one up
When I read MC-61245 it doesn't sound like this
image of what I'm doing (I'm pushing forward but am unable to move)

Oh yeah some people have reported this bug already. Best to add your info to that report instead of making a new copy of the same bug.

Re-open this issue!
This is not a dupe of MC-61245 which pertains to the hitbox of placing stair blocks but that is not the collision issue which is happening here, which is caused by "catching" on what should be completely flat walls - another way you can test this is by using half-slab stairs which have the same issue, if you walk into them at a 45deg angle you will "catch" on the wall and it will block your movement - this is not the same behaviour as in previous versions of the game and is not the same issue as MC-61245.

Please notice how this post also refers to snow and slabs. Are you saying snow/slabs are stairs? If this somehow is because of the same problem, the hitbox problem needs to be expanded beyond "stairs", because as Zuriki reports, this does not only happen with stairs.
This is NOT a dupe of MC-61245.
If anything, MC-61245 could be related to this post, but only partially.
OK. The stairs issue is still a dupe of MC-61245, but these 2 things are fairly new. Deleting old comment.
The issues are not related. MC-61245 is about the hitbox of stairs specifically in relation to them being placed or destroyed. This does not affect the example above because the stairs in the example I gave are acting in accordance to how they should act in versions unaffected by MC-61245 and the hitbox of stairs is entirely irrelevant to this issue.
This issue is about player movement across any non-full block and more specifically relates to the special-case snapping the player to elevated surfaces when the destination surface is elevated by 0.5m or less.

can confirm, the hitboxes are completly screwed up
still screwy in 14w29b, especially the upside down ones.
confirmed for 14w30b
MC-63452you should retitle the report, now it looks like it's only with upside down stairs
stairs and there hitboxes effects both normal and upside down:
stair = hitbox
west = west
south = east
east = north
north = south
confirmed for 14w30c
I've made a short video, demonstrating some of the behaviors.

"placing block on the top is buggy"
there is one thing I have to say: you aimed at the inside side of the stains, not top/inside top
Oh, I see what you're saying, FVbico. Didn't realize that it had always been that way.
Thanks for clarifying that. -
Confirmed for 14w32a. I can only have kitchen cabinets to the west
Confirmed for 14w32b
Confirmed for 14w32d. Upside down stars are particularly problematic, as they've made chests placed behind them inaccessible.
confirmed for 32d - seems to have something to do with the block models
This bug is back in 15w38a
