When you press L + Shift to dismount your boat, it will move away from you in the opposite direction.

Also, why are you pressing L + shift anyway? Just pressing shift works.
He probably means Lshift (only the left side Shift key works).
I am having this problem as well. Pressing Lshift (Left Shift) causes the boat to go rocketing away from you.
Is this still an issue in the current Minecraft Snapshot 15w46a or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
