MC-734Wither Skeletons not spawning in pre-generated fortress
I have a Nether fortress that I generated in the 1.3 snapshots, and it will not spawn wither skeletons/normal skeletons/blazes naturally. I generated a new world in creative and looked for a nether fortress and it did have these natural spawns. This can be fixed by generating a new fortress, but I want to keep mine

I just updated our server, and my client to 1.4.5. Getting Wither Skeletons in ALL Nether Fortresses now. Looks like it's been fixed

Nothing that can be done because the game simply does not recognize the fortress. The 1.3 Snapshot is probably the culprit as Etho still gets spawns in his 1.8beta world
I can confirm that issue.
The world here was generated with V1.0 and every version and snapshot was installed.
In both of our fortresses there are spawning a lot of blazes but never ever a single wither skeleton.
The first fortress was discovered with V1.1 but revisited with 12w37a and following, the second fortress was discovered with 12w39a or similar.
Someone did evaluate that the Nether fortress chunks forget to write back the "Wither Skeleton" flag when unloading, but I cannot find the text.

When I went further out and found a Nether Fortress in previously unspawned chunks I saw quite a few Wither Skeleton's spawn. However at my old Nether Fortress (previous to installing the snapshot) I don't see them spawn at all. Anyone else see this?
Update: In my old V1.1 created fortress there are spawning wither skeletons. The second fortress is buried in netherrack and has no open areas, maybe that's influencing the spawning of wither skeletons.
I'm getting regular skeletons but not wither skeletons. Shouldn't it be all or nothing?
In nether fortresses there will also spawn regular skeletons.
yes, with a 20% chance. So if I'm seeing several of those and not one wither skeleton, something seems buggy.
Confirmed on 1.4.2 SMP as well. Even when locating a new Nether Fortress, there were Wither Skeletons there, until you leave the area and come back...then nothing.
Any update on this issue with 1.4.5 ?
In my pre-generated fortresses the nether skeletons are spawning.
Just updated our server, and my client to 1.4.5. Seems like this issue has
been fixed. Now getting Wither Skeletons in ALL nether fortresses. cheer
