Minecraft launcher's window name is titled "cefclient" when first launching each time
When opening the minecraft launcher each time, at first, on a mac, the window is titled "cefclient". Within a few seconds, this is changed to Minecraft Launcher, but it shouldn't be there at all.
How to reproduce:
- Open Minecraft Launcher on Mac
- Notice that for a few seconds, window is titled "cefclient"
I will attach a screen recording of this bug.
I couldn't find any issues similar to this, so I'm posting this new report. However, it's possible that I've missed one.

The bug
In 2.1.17415, the title bar of the launcher had a hex color of d4d4d4. In 2.1.17626, its hex color is a6a4a6. This title bar color is not present in any other window in Minecraft, including the launcher updater and the game itself.
These measurements were taken at the pixel just above the line dividing the title bar and the window body (as shown in the screenshot below, taken in 2.1.17626)

Likely caused by the fix of MCL-14467. May be intentional.
How to reproduce
Checking the color previously
- Open the launcher in version 2.1.17415 (release)
- Open Digital Color Meter (DCM) (should be built in with macOS, in Utilities folder)
- Position the DCM window beside the launcher window, so that both can be viewed at the same time
- Select the launcher window
- Position your cursor as described above the screenshot (above)
- Take note of the RGB values; they should be 212, 212, 212.
Checking the new color
- Open the launcher in version 2.1.17626 (beta)
- Follow steps 2 through 5 from above
- Take note of the RGB values; they should be 166, 164, 166.
That same thing happens for me
Hi there!
I think this issue happens to all Mac users. I tested this on a Windows computer and got different results (it goes straight to "Minecraft Launcher"). This bug isn't really performance-affecting; it's just a bit annoying.
I would note that this also happens in Catalina 10.15.4, and have noticed this as well. It seems to generally occur when my Wifi is slow or Screen Time is up.
Hi there!
Thanks for the information! I've updated the report to include it.
If anyone else has an affected operating system version, please comment on this ticket.
It happens the same to me. It seems that is going to start but it crashes, and the window's name is also "cefclient". I just bought the game today and I can not play because it doesn't launch.
I use a mac OS computer.
Thanks, loli
Hello Loli Company!
You might want to try getting help on the Community Support Discord for your issue with the game not launching here: https://discord.gg/58Sxm23.
[Mod] markderickson thank you for taking the time to report this bug. We have now fixed the window title as well as removed the default white background color which was shown in the split second on the launcher loading.
The fix should be visible by updating to the latest version if you've opted in to be a beta user of the launcher. Thanks for making Minecraft better on Mac!
Hello!
Thank you for taking the time to fix it! I've been bothered by that bug for a while.
