MCL-5895New launcher will not run game
Launcher opens, loads, but when clicking Play it disappears as if loading then pops back up with error message attached. Changing profiles/minecraft versions does not make a difference. New launcher downloaded today, have already uninstalled and reinstalled.
Have also attached the only crash report found in %appdata%\.minecraft\crash_reports
EDIT: Compatibility mode DOES NOT help.
Restarting computer DOES NOT help.
Running launcher as admin DOES NOT help.
Being connected/disconnected to the internet DOES NOT make a difference.

MCL-5895 might be a duplicate of this issue as I've just opened it but I'm having similar issues, EXCEPT I never get stuck on Preparing, the launcher disappears and then pops back up with a generic error. Not sure if the two are linked.
edit: also different versions, but possibly linked?
Suggest this be merged with MCL-5895
Source of problem seems to be latest nvidia drivers. Rolled back, things work now.
