Maybe this is a limitation of Minecraft launcher for windows.
Minecraft.exe is not an actual launcher, it only runs .minecraft/launcher.jar.
These are separate program, so 2 icons are shown on the taskbar.
[~ANBO Motohiko], you are right about the launcher and the executable being separate programs, but this issue still needs to be fixed. Will confirm for version 1.3.10 ASAP.
Warm regards, Liam Whitt.
Update: Confirmed for version 1.3.10.
I have windows 8 but have the same problem although the icon is different from the launcher.
Confirmed for version 1.4.7.
Confirmed for version 1.5 (it took 2 tries to update to the latest version).
Confirmed for version 1.6.5. (I am bugged by this because I normally have over 10 programs open and it fills up my taskbar.)
In 1.6.11 I can't even pin the launcher.
NekoJonez, just drag the Minecraft icon from your desktop to the taskbar. That should do the trick.
Confirmed for launcher v1.6.19
Confirmed for launcher v1.6.48.
