I can confirm this happens in the beta, along with the delay. In 1.16.40, there is a noticeable delay when clicking play/navigating settings/world generation menu, but no flickering. Both stable and beta have issues

I reproduced this bug on many devices, some of which are: Nintendo Switch, Windows 10 PC, and an iPhone 11.
