Item categories are shown when the recipe book window is closed
The bug
In the player's inventory, navigating to the Search tab within the recipe book window shows the category an item belongs to in its description, in both Survival and Creative mode. However, upon closing the recipe book window while the Search tab is still selected, the item category is still shown on items, where it wasn't shown before.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open your inventory and open the recipe book window. Give yourself an item to observe.
- Open the Search tab, then check your item's description. Observe that the category on the item is shown, detailing which tab it belongs to.
- Close the recipe book window while the Search tab is still selected, and again check your item's description.
→
The category is still shown. It should not be present because the recipe book window is closed, and the category is therefore not relevant.

The bug

What I expected to happen was:
For the category to disappear, as the window is no longer visible and the category is therefore no longer relevant. This also happens when you navigate to a different tab.
What actually happens:
The category remains.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open your inventory and open the recipe book window.
- Open any tab but the Search tab. Observe that the category on items are not shown.
- Open the Search tab. Observe that the category on items are shown, detailing which tab they belong to.
- Close the recipe book window.

Confirmed. The category is only supposed to show up while you're in the search tab, to indicate where the items can be found.
This actually works correctly for the most part. It doesn't show up in chests, for example. But it shows up in the inventory if the search tab is selected, even if it's not visible.
In Java, the recipe book and creative inventory are entirely separate, which is nice, so the categories don't need to appear in survival mode at all. But that's not really relevant.
