Redstone wire can travel upwards on hoppers, like slabs and stairs, which is normal and just like on the Java edition. However, a redstone signal can also be sent downwards from a hopper to another block, unlike slabs and stairs and unlike its behavior in the Java edition. Possibly caused by the fix of MCPE-14199 for hoppers.
See this video for a good demonstration/example:
https://youtu.be/rC0zbhGJsLw
EDIT: As of 0.15.90.8, all redstone components can be placed on glass on any side, and glass allows for vertical redstone both up and down, like the hoppers in this issue. I suggest that hoppers be changed to act like upside-down slabs & stairs, and glass, glowstone, sea lanterns, and other transparent, full-cube-shaped blocks act like glass does in 0.16.1. See MCPE-16872.

Redstone wire is supposed to be placeable on glass in Bedrock Codebase. (See MCPE-16872, which was resolved as WAI.) However, despite the fact that the redstone wire can connect up diagonally like blocks such as cobblestone, wood planks, etc. (and in both directions, unlike slabs), the redstone wire does not appear to travel up the side of the glass.
Verification builds:
1.2.0.7 Retail
Summary:
Since 0.15.x, redstone and components could be placed on glass, which was confirmed as a PE exclusive feature. However, this behaviour is missing for stained glass added in the 1.2.x beta.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Place some stained glass
- Place redstone dust on the stained glass
Observed Results:
It's not possible to place redstone items on the stained glass.
Expected Results:
Logically, it should behave in the same way as regular glass.
Screenshots/Videos attached: Yes
Notes:
Please see ticket MCPE-16872 for intended behaviour for glass.

dont ruin it for us please. its a good feature its now similar to what hopper does without the lag
You know what? This actually seems okay to me. I think this is one of those instances where perhaps the redstone rules should be changed. Why can't we place redstone on glass in the Java and Console Editions? I like the idea of a convenient way of sending a redstone signal vertically down using cheap, easy-to-obtain blocks that makes far more sense to me than
MCPE-15742. Honestly, the rule where you couldn't place redstone components on transparent blocks and such always annoyed me, and I never understood why that was a limitation in the first place. Plz mark this as WAI, devs!wait what is the vote button for?? do we have Work as intended vote button?
@wakafu mafuyuu: The vote button is a way of saying we think the bug needs attention, whether the response be WAI or needs-to-be-fixed. There is no WAI-vote button, because that decision belongs to the devs.
i mean a vote for it to be a feature that the devs might consider adding _

I think this should be merged with-MCPE-16497.EDIT: Actually, you know what, I don't think these issues should be merged. They're not as related as I thought at first, and should probably be dealt with separately. Nevermind.
Affects 0.16.0 beta build 4 AKA 0.15.90.7.
Affects 0.15.90.8 (0.16.0 beta build 5). I also discovered that all rail types can also be placed in glass, as well as all pressure plates, all buttons, tripwire hooks, and levers. Torches & redstone torches can also be placed on the side of glass blocks. (Previously in 0.15.x and in the Java edition they could only be placed on the top.)
