Summary:
Compostable blocks cannot be continuously composted by holding down the use button like with items.
The following blocks are affected:
- Pumpkins
- Melons
- Hay Bales
- Grass Blocks
- Dried Kelp Blocks
- Mushroom Blocks
- Leaves
- Nether Wart Blocks
- Warped Wart Blocks
Cacti do not have this issue.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Place down a composter
- Obtain a stack of compostable blocks
- Hold down the use button while looking at the composter
Observed Results:
Blocks cannot be continuously composted by holding down the use button.
Expected Results:
Holding down the use button should continuously compost blocks.

When holding down the use button on a composter with multiple compostable blocks, the blocks can't be continuously placed in the composter. They have to be placed individually, which is not the case with items.
The following blocks are affected:
- Pumpkins
- Melons

This also affects all food items as long as you are able to eat them. If you are in creative mode, or in survival/adventure while your hunger bar is not full or difficulty is peaceful, so that you can eat, holding down right click, will make you compost it once and then start eating. If you are in survival mode, with full hunger bar and not peaceful difficulty, so that you can’t eat, you will properly compost continuously when holding down right click.
