Summary
Villagers can drop items they are offering to trade when killed.
How to reproduce:
- Summon a villager and give him a job.
- Take an emerald and hold it up until the villager offers an item
- /effect @s strength 999999 14
- Switch to another slot in your hotbar and quickly kill the villager.
-> Sometimes he drops the item that he was holding 
Original Description
When holding an item a villager will hold a bunch of different items they could said item for, if the player kills them while they are have the item out, the villager can drop the item. It's not every time but it does happen.

And it's a good thing it's not working for you, you're a villagers killer) And on the way, they fixed it that if you kill villagers, then they drop their trade)

This issue has been reported in the recent 1.16 betas (
MCPE-72089) but I was unable to reproduce this issue in the 1.14.60 Hotfix. Is the version in your report correct?Yes it was happening in the 1.14.60 Hotfix. The way I did it was holding an emerald near a villager, give myself strength 20 and kill the villager while they have the item. It doesn't happen every time but it did happen.
Confirmed in 1.14.60 and 1.16.0.64
I think this is an intended game mechanic
