Addons Don't Tranfer When Uploading Worlds to Realms
When attempting to upload a world that has resource and behavior packs applied (after triple-checking the uuids and verifying no errors with the packs), resource and behavior packs do not transfer to realms. It seems that they are purposely excluded, as the world and level data transfer successfully.
This issue occurs both on Windows 10 and on Xbox One, leaving me with access to only vanilla textures and behaviors on realms.
I hope that this issue is resolved promptly, as several people interact with my realm frequently in the course of a day, and it is currently unworkable due to the lack of functionality of addons.

My friend is having the same problem. We play on a huge server together and he tried to add things today and it reverted everything to vanilla
Having the same problem! Trying to apply custom texture packs to realms also reverts back to vanilla textures. I’ve spent hours looking through the files making sure it was nothing I did wrong. Rechecked the uuids so many times and everything. Hope they come out with a fix soon.
Im having the exact same problem
Moved to the Realms section. This bug has been reported to our internal bug tracker for further testing and a fix.

Mega_Spud, when would we see a bug fix for this? Some of us are losing valuable realm time.
Having the same issue, however store bought content is the only content that I can upload with my map to a realm. If I use my own custom resources on top of store bought content, they get removed. Happened on several test maps
Also having this issue. Currently using iPad to upload world to realm.
Everything works perfect in game on device, but upon uploading, the Behaviors are Vanilla.
This is not a new problem, but it was fixed for awhile and is now broken again.
I'm also having the same problem. I've recently bought a realm and I can't use it because it is a world that requires a texture pack to work properly. I'm losing some realm time, so I hope this gets fixed as soon as possible! I think it is specifically affecting v1.7.1 because it wasn't doing this in v1.7.
It’s been almost 2 weeks now. We’re unable to do anything on our realm because our Custom texture/addon won’t work and we can’t do anything without it. We’re losing a lot of realm time which is a paid service. Since it’s taking a long time to come out with a fix for this issue will we be able to get reimbursed for the time we are losing?
I am having the same problem, I hope this gets fixed by 1.8
I've been having this problem as well. I know my add-on works, but its non-existent when uploaded to my realms server. Maybe a 1.7.1 fix?
Hello there people of the internet, it has come to my attention that I may have found a simple and effective solution to the global resource packs not working on Minecraft Realms for bedrock users. First off this fix will only work if you still have all of your realm backups! For example if you only have one realm, here is what you will need to do: Start by loading up Minecraft bedrock on whichever device you play on except for pocket edition (MCPE). It is preferred that you play Minecraft bedrock edition on either an Xbox One or laptop/desktop. Once you are in the main menu, navigate to the screen that will display all of your Realms. Once you have selected your desired realm, click on the pencil icon and this will then take you to the editing options. You then want select the backups tab, bringing you to a screen with all of your recent realm backups. In order to restore your realm with your desired resource pack, you will then need to select any of the numerous backup tabs with the display of the word name and date. This will then bring the following on screen: "Replace the Realm with the Backup". It is the up most importance that you click on this tab and allow the realm to show you the "We are replacing your Realm with the Backup" tab. Once the replacing is complete you can now load up your Realm to see if it has restored back to defaults. If the Realm has been unsuccessful and is still displaying in default; you will need to keep trying to replace the same Realm with different backups until you finally select the correct file. Thus meaning the Realm now has been restored with your desired global resource packs. Please note that when replacing your backup files, you will either get lucky on the first file or you may need elevation and will need to use trial and error until you finally get your Realm working properly! Unfortunately for those who have current or a lot of data on your old Realm backup save; you will most likely lose any or all data associated with your savegame.dat file. This will impact the following: if you have any player saved progression, this will very likely be removed and refreshed. In addition, if and when you do restore your realm please note that your global resource pack will still show under "available packs" however it will continue and fail to show under your "active packs". Furthermore the reason for this is purely due to the bug within the ".json files". I am sorry for any inconveniences and hope that you are able to successfully apply this information thus restoring your Realm. Please don't hesitate to ask any question or quires that you may have. You can reach me here on Xbox One under "The Rookie lll", or you can simply reply to this post. Many thanks, goodluck!
Anthony Reginald Brown, theres a few problems with your fix. This has been an issue for about 3-4 weeks now, and nobody wants to lose that amount of progress. Also, custom resource packs also do not work when uploading to realms. Many people make frequent adjustments to custom resource packs so what do we do if we don't want an old version of our custom textures?
Shawn S, here is the main issue, I have discovered that if you have never used a particular resource pack on a Realm. Way before this bug was present, then unfortunately you will be unable to apply that resource pack. However some users will benefit from this and be able to use existing resource packs as temporarily solution, until Mojang decide to fix this issue permanently.
It seems 1.8 still hasn't solved this. I am beyond frustrated.
GTARPS, I’m right there with you. I don’t think I’m going to keep paying for realms until they fix this. This is very frustrating to us builders that rely on custom textures packs/ addon functionality to get any amount of progress done.
Same w/ behavior packs... My add-on runs well offline but doesn't work on Realm...
It won't even allow me to upload a world period I made a brand new 1.13.2 with nothing went to upload it and it constantly fails I restarted the game multiple times I restarted my computer multiple times to no effect they need to fix this ASAP
I am on the 1.8 update and I am still having issues uploading a world with the packs on it. The packs still dissapear and the world loads without any texture/addon packs. This is the same with the normal packs on the marketplace as well. No packs load.
This continues to happen even after the 1.8 update as Anthony mentioned.
When is it going to be fixed, its been like 3 weeks im hosting a smp realm and need my packs to keep the fun in it plz fix
Hello everyone. We're actively working on this problem and the fix is in testing at the moment. We will try to get it out as soon as possible.
I found that the reason for my realms not working is that the realm version is different from normal world versions. Realms were updated to accommodate the new Nintendo switch version. I found that a fix for this, at least for me, was to use the program MCC Tool Chest PE to lower the world version. Once you change the version the textures and behaviors should work again. Be aware you’ll have to lower the version anytime you download your realm. I hope this helped some of you!
Joshua, you can also use universal minecraft editor to change the world version. Which version did you have to lower it to for it to apply the textures and behaviors into realms?
Shawn, basically I downloaded my realm and the default version was 1.8.1. And that’s what the last loaded version was. Most of my textures and behaviors run with any engine that is 1.2.6 or above. So if your packs are compatible with that version or higher I would just go with that. You can experiment with this if you want to try different versions. I haven’t gone too in-depth on it myself yet.
Update! I found a new way to fix the problem! Basically you’ll need to have two versions of the game. The way I fixed it was by uploading the textures I wanted to a world on windows 10 edition. Then I upload it to the realm. It will not work when the you open the realm.
Now download the world onto another edition. Open the world save and put the texture pack back on the world. Reupload the realm. This worked for me
Hey everyone. As far as we are aware this bug has been resolved. If you find any resource packs which aren't working properly, please list them here. I'm keeping the bug open until we've been able to verify the packs you guyls are using.
I will add that the basic issue does seem to be fixed. I loaded a world to my realm a few days ago and the Resource and Behaviour packs stayed in place.
The next day however, the Behaviour pack was stripped and it was back to Vanilla.
I re-uploaded yesterday, and so far it is working.....
I can't try anymore now that my realm is closed and i don't want to pay for a month if i'm not sure that the issue has been solved.
My behaviour pack works perfectly well offline and lan game.
Please keep us informed if you think it's been solved once and for all. Thank you !
Ok cool. To add some context, we have noticed that our parsing of the resource packs is stricter than the parsing done by the game itself in some cases. This is by necessity. We are however planning to add better error messages for that, and will make sure to double-check that official packs are compliant. So if anyone finds a pack not working, please let us know.
I would like to add that any new entities that you add in 1.8 packs do not transfer to realms. I have tried with several different packs, and none of the custom entities transfer, however the default entities resources and behaviors work just fine.
Respectfully, I don't know who the bug testers were in this case, but this issue is most certainly not resolved.
I utilized a very basic process to confirm this:
Step One: Located and downloaded 16*16 .png images from google (for custom block textures).
Step Two: Created addon folder and placed the .png(s) into addon_name>textures>blocks, renaming them after glass and cobblestone.
Step Three: Created a manifest.json file with the following code:
Step Four: Located and downloaded a suitable pack photo (pack_icon.png) and inserted it into the main addon folder.
Step Five: Opened Minecraft Windows 10 Edition, applied Resource Pack to vanilla world, opened the world and confirmed the custom textures were applied successfully.
Step Six: Reset my Realm, then replaced the world with my world that had the new resource pack applied.
Step Seven: Opened the Realm to find the textures did not transfer.
Important Note: I attempted to download the world from my Realm on console, and the pack downloaded successfully, I was able to play the world (not on the realm) on my console after reapplying and reordering the pack.
I have tried this with all of my custom packs, and it seems that the files transfer, but somewhere when being transferred to the realm they disable themselves, despite downloading from the realm to console and W10E (albeit in random order).
I sincerely urge that this issue be remedied, as I can't see myself renewing my subscription if it is not. So many of my community members are depending on a fix, and many are growing frustrated seeing no signs of a resolution. These workarounds are not at all fullproof, and they seem to merely filter out a tiny portion of the issue rather than resolving it.
This bug does not affect marketplace content (whoever are the bug testers). This is strictly for custom resource packs and addons that anyone makes. I have found a temporary fix for anyone that this is affecting. You may want to download a program called universal minecraft editor or MCC Tool Chest PE and change the "last opened with" data value to minecraft version: 1.7.0. Once you do this with your world (make sure the resource pack is applied to this world before you do this) you can upload it to your realm. Make sure you don't load into your world after you change the version of the world. This worked for me anyways.
Shawn,
I'm afraid that didn't work, either. I truly wish we wouldn't have to resort to trial and error in an effort to fix bugs ourselves. It seems pretty clear that something is off with the way worlds are being transferred to realms, yet the issue still hasn't been identified. Perhaps it could be that the bug testing is taking place solely on servers not in my region (U.S. SouthEast). At any rate it's not fixed on my end.
Ugh. So frustrating & soooo much time wasted.
GTARPS,
I'm not too sure if you did something wrong but this temporary fix helped everyone so far that has had this bug. But yes, it is quiet unprofessional that a permanent fix is taking so long considering everyone pays for this service.
I simply opened the editor, changed the last opened version to 1.7.0.0, saved, then replaced the Realm world with the edited world and it did not resolve the issue.
Do you have a custom resource pack AND add-on applied to the world or do you just have a custom resource pack?
No, there are several addons applied in addition to the separately made test resource pack.
Oh. I got my custom resource pack working with the temporary fix, but did not try behavior packs/addons. I wish I could help you
https://youtu.be/fxwzQBzYOhc
I'm sorry the temporary fix must not apply to addons and behaviors. On the side note, are you experienced with commands?
Yes, quite experienced. I build systems frequently.
So, I've managed to import textures alone following the process listed below:
Testing Process:
Result - All textures transferred successfully.
Note: I have yet to try behavior packs, however I will continue my bug testing and see if I can successfully transfer a behavior pack to the realm.
Hey @GTARPS. We tried your refrigerator example and managed to upload it just fine. We also tested various custom packs from sites around the net and all the ones we tried were successful.
There is one caveat, however. If you have uploaded a custom pack previously, you need to bump the version or change the uuid for the changes to be visible in Realms. This is true across all realms globally, so if you re-upload the same version, any changes will be ignored. Could this be what you were hitting?
I will close this bug for now, and urge anyone with a similar problem to check the versioning and the format of your manifest. If you still have a problem, please register a ticket at https://help.mojang.com/customer/portal/emails/new and we can investigate on a per-realm basis.
That is not the case. I don’t know for sure what exactly is going on here but I know what exactly causes the bug; for me, at least. I upload a custom pack to my realm. Yes, I’ve used custom packs before but I changed the UUID. The addon will work fine UNTIL the realm is either A) opened and closed without changing other settings or B) renaming the realm from inside of the game. To my knowledge, that is what affects it. Note that there may be more causes. To add on to this, however, I cannot go on with this bug still because I close and open my realm at times for various reasons. I cannot just stop that. I think I can speak for a lot of us here and say that we are desperately waiting for a fix... our money is going into this!
This issue is happening again.
