(Could not find similar bug report, most dealt with Music or the fact that thunder is audible even under 60+ layers of rock and dirt. Searched for "thunder," "thunder volume," "weather volume," "weather")
During a Thunderstorm, the volume level of the thunder was drowning out other noises (like the music I play in the background), so I opened the volume controls to adjust it down to a tolerable level.
Adjusting weather volume to 0% was the only way to make it change volume, in which case it was OFF. Adjusting weather volume from 1% to 100% had no noticeable effect on the volume of the thunder.

David Cady If you reported a duplicate of this bug, that doesn't mean you can become the reporter.
Usually a reporter is changed if he or she is inactive for a long period of time. In this case David Cady was inactive for about four years, and [Mod] Asteraoth became reporter by confirming versions for the ticket so that it can be updated without the need of a mod or helper. I can't see you as reporter anytime on the log though.

Confirmed with Iron Pickaxes as well. None of the snapshot notes said anything about the removal of this feature.
Confirmed. Item frames with maps disappeared when I loaded the new snapshot. I assume they popped off the walls and the items despawned before I noticed.
New item frames emit void particles even with maps in them.
Each time I restart the client, maps appear correctly with both hands behind it, but opening the inventory causes the left hand to break through the map graphic and end up covering the bottom left corner. Restarting the Server and/or Client only temporarily fixes this.
No-one on the server is riding anything(no pigs, horses, donkeys, minecarts or boats) when this error occurs.
Running a server using 14w05b snapshot.
Finally found a bug report similar to what I was looking for!
I tried spectating a pig and realized I was looking out from a 2 block height instead of 1 block.
Spectator mode IS still under construction, I know, but reports liek this should help flesh out the mode to be more interesting.
I can confirm that this is happening.
This happened to me around ~10-15 blocks underground. Some of the cobblestone I was mining ended up on the surface.
Also some drops end up ~5-6 blocks away on the ground instead of within 1-2 blocks of the place they were mined from.
Edit: Found blocks over 20 layers straight up from where I was digging. This has gone from a slight annoyance to a major problem for survival.
This has become a persistent problem. Now in snapshot 14w06b and I cannot get my hand to stop covering the map corner.
These pictures(2014-02-11_19.44.50.png and 2014-02-11_19.45.09.png) are from 14w06b and seem to be a similar bug acting in a different manner. I would have created a new bug report, but it would have the same general description and name as this one.
Is this a new bug? Or the recurrence of the old one?
To reproduce: go fish
Is there a custom texture pack on this server?
Can confirm the visual bug with the fishing line. It also seems to appear underneath the block layer that the player is standing on.
Not just sprinting, changing depth does the same thing.
I believe the new trading mechanics have effectively made this bug obsolete. I think villagers no longer change their trades, not even to reduce the price of an old trade.
Still a problem in 14w07a
If you have mods installed, then the issue is most likely a mod problem.
Remove mods one at a time until the problem goes away to figure out which mod is causing the problem. If you remove all mods and still have this issue, then it is a bug in vanilla.
Having ANY mod installed and coming across a problem pretty much means the Mojang devs are going to ignore your problem until you can reproduce the bug in a clean vanilla world.
New enchanting feature requires Lapiz Lazuli in order to enchant.
I've been having this problem from 14w05a through 14w08a as well. Villagers that have been summoned via commands, spawn eggs, or found on the map will randomly stop farming or even picking up bread.
I'm assuming code changes in preparation for the Mod API have had interesting effects on other parts of the game than were intended. I would hazard a guess that this bug is one of those completely unintended side effects and is taking some time to locate WHY this is happening. If it was something as easy as reducing the velocity at which blocks "drop" then it would have been fixed right away.
This bug has actually stopped me from mining on my server because I don't want to risk losing diamonds. I've never really liked how blocks pop out in random directions when you break them(it makes some simple cobblestone generators very inefficient because the cobble will fall into the adjacent lava rather than fall straight down into flowing water).
Let's not get mad at the nice programmers at Mojang for not fixing this right away. Grum assigned himself to this bug, and many others, so I'm sure he's trying to fix it(when they are actually doing bugfixes and not getting Realms ready). This is a snapshot bug only, not a 1.7.4 bug, so those of us that are suffering through it have only ourselves to blame for playing with unfinished code.
I'm wondering if this bug report is even remotely accurate anymore.
In all of the 1.8 snapshots(anything after 1.7.4 update) I've been having a problem with my left hand coming through the map EVERY time I hold a map. It always happens, with no correlation to riding any entity. It happens in single player with the first map made and with every map after that.
Either this bug needs to be updated to reflect the fact that this bug has escalated, or we need a new bug report detailing the fact that this now happens as default.
Also - the hand doesn't come as far through the map as these pictures show anymore, and holding shift makes the left hand go back behind the map until you release it.
Edit: Deleted minecraft and re-installed.
Tested 1.7.5, used /give command to get an empty map and used it. Map worked normally.
Tested 14w08a, used /give command to get an empty map and used it. Hand glitched through map same as above picture(14w08a Map Glitch).
14w08a Map Glitch (attached picture)- Hand no longer shows full "finger" polygon face, but still interferes with the map.
All snapshots up to 14w08a are afflicted with this bug.
I think this was fixed a few snapshots ago, and it probably duplicates a closed bug report.
Uhh.. no this can't be a problem in 1.7.9 because it's a problem with a 1.8 feature that is still in snapshots.
Still in 1.7.10, just in case someone thinks it went away at any point.
Is anyone ever going to correct the grammatical errors in the title of this issue? It is a serious issue that affects maps in the entire game and should have wording that doesn't look like an eight year old is complaining about a minor issue.
Also, given that there is already a solution to the issue that requires modifying the game code, if this were brought to the attention of a Mojang programmer they could have it fixed in minutes.
Why would this bug need a change in who reported it if it's the same bug i reported 4 1/2 years ago?
If this allows someone else to update affected versions, then that makes sense. I'm not really playing Java edition anymore, switched to Bedrock. Can't say I've seen this bug on that version.
Will this issue ever get resolved? It's very annoying to work around because you have to re-name your banners every time you move them.
