Please forgive me but for my edification, what is a layer 8 problem?
In single player survival, when using a bucket of lava for fuel in a furnace, the furnace flame animation both in the furnace GUI and on the furnace block itself never goes out. It remains burning even after an item has been cooked or smelted. Removing the cooked or smelted item or removing the empty lava bucket from the furnace does not change anything. However, if you REMOVE the empty lava bucket, you can continue to cook or smelt things without any fuel being in the bottom block of the furnace GUI as shown in attachment 4.png.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1) In single player survival, create and place a furnace.
2) Obtain a block of cobblestone.
3) Obtain a bucket of lava.
3) Click on the furnace to open its GUI.
4) Place the bucket of lava in the furnace at the bottom for fuel.
5) Place the cobblestone block in the top to be smelted.
6) After the smelting is complete, observe that the flame animation in the GUI and the flame animation on the furnace block itself remains continuously on.

Matthew Connor: How do you edit server.properties on a Realms server ?

Can you post a screenshot (with the F3 debug screen activated) of the command you are typing BEFORE and AFTER you execute the command? The tp command has been in use and working perfectly for a very long time. I am unable to reproduce this problem.
Cannot reproduce.
Confirmed.
When you have a moment, please post your environment. Everything matters. Thank you!
Cannot reproduce.
Is this in single player or multiplayer? If multiplayer, is it vanilla or a Bukkit server?
Unable to reproduce using either method in single player survival.
Confirmed. Sounds of non-hoe tools not affected. Tilling sound of all hoe types are affected by the "Friendly Creatures" volume slider.
Tried multiple times, dying by pigmen while standing in portal before transport fully occurs in both the Overworld and the Nether. Unable to reproduce.
Pierre: No, sir. We should continue to report all bugs regardless of their severity. But when you have a list of thousands of problems in an arena like this, you have to start somewhere. It makes the most sense to fix FIRST the things that impact the most people in the most way and, in some cases, to fix easier ones first if it affects more people. There are more problems than just this.
I have in fact been able to reproduce this but I had to modify the way I was doing it. The following steps reproduce the problem for me:
1) Start a single player survival game.
2) Chop one block of wood from a tree allowing it to "fall on you" so that it enters your inventory.
3) Drop the block on the ground.
4) Pick the item up and hit "Escape" at the exact same time such that you still see the item on the ground and the item appearing in the hotbar during it's "stretching" animation. This may take several attempts to get the timing right.
5) Click "Save and Quit to Title".
6) COMPLETELY EXIT THE GAME.
7) Restart game.
8) Reload saved game and observe two of the same items now in the hotbar.
Please note that if I do not completely exit the game and just reloaded the saved gamed from the Title Screen, I can NOT reproduce it.
This is the screenshot from my reproduction of this problem in single player survival. That is only one block of wood on the ground, not more. The screen shot was captured as the object was being "pulled" towards me to go into my inventory and appears to be two items.
Here is the screenshot of the now TWO items in my hotbar after reproduction using the above steps.
Poster: Were you intending to attach your crash report to an already open issue but accidentally attached it to a new issue with no description or details?

MC-1403.I'm open to being corrected but if I'm not mistaken, this is more a hardware limitation on the user's end rather than a problem with Minecraft. Have you tried to duplicate this problem on a higher-end machine?
Please note that I have not been able to reproduce this problem every time even when following the exact same procedure that at other times, does successfully reproduce the problem. The attached image named "
MC-71974_Reproduction-Failed.png" shows another attempt that failed to reproduce the problem even when the moment of the screen capture appears to be identical to others that succeeded. I have not yet figured out what variable causes it to reproduce at times and not at others. The "MC-71974_Reproduction-Failed.png" attempt results in only one item in my hotbar after reloading. Again, note that in this screenshot, that is only ONE piece of birchwood on the ground and not two, as the capture happened during the animation sequence.Confirmed in single player survival on a dirt block HOWEVER after exactly 20 seconds each time, it reverts back to its non-mined appearance. This appears to only happen on blocks just out of reach above you as opposed to in front of you when you start to mine it and then back up out of range while still attempting to mine it.
I was JUST coming back here to mark my own submission as being stupid and that it works as intended. My sincere apologies. I did my best to search for this before posting but I just missed it.
Please turn your particle level to at least "Decreased" by following these steps:
1) During the game, press "Escape"
2) Click "Options..."
3) Click "Video Settings..."
4) Click the "Particles" button until it says "Decreased" or "All"
Try again.
I have attempted to reproduce by the following method in single player survival. Please advise me if I misunderstood the process you used. I was UNABLE TO REPRODUCE using this method. My point of confusion right now is the math. 32 / 6 * 3 is indeed 16 but 32 / 6 BEFORE multiplying is 5.3333333. Since it cannot create a door using non-integers, it rounds it down and creates 15 doors. Please correct me where I've misunderstood. Thank you!
1) Obtain a stack of 32 Spruce Wood Planks and put it in your inventory.
2) Fill all remaining free inventory slots with items such that you have no free spaces.
3) Open the Crafting Table GUI, click and hold while dragging the 32 Spruce Wood Planks across the two left-most columns of the Crafting Table GUI squares. A preview of the door with the number "3" appears to the right and the icon of the remaining 2 wooden planks not used in door creation attaches to the mouse cursor.
4) Now that only one space in your inventory is free (from removing the 32 wood planks), Shift+Click the preview of the created doors to move them to the free space in the inventory.
5) Observe that 15 "Spruce Doors" appear in the last free inventory slot.
6) Press "Escape" to exit the Crafting Table GUI and observe the remaining two wooden planks are thrown to the floor.
7) Open a chest that has free space in it. Observe that the 15 doors are still in the inventory and nothing has changed in the empty chest.
This happened to me in Minecraft 1.8 in single player survival. I had an iron pickaxe with Efficiency IV and Unbreaking III. When it ran out on the last block I was mining, the pickaxe made the breaking sound and disappeared like normal. I opened my inventory and moved a diamond pickaxe into the slot the enchanted iron pickaxe used to be in. When I did, the enchanted iron pickaxe suddenly reappeared and was thrown to the ground. I exited my inventory and picked it up off the ground. I was able to use it a few more times before it made the breaking sound again, broke for good and disappeared permanently. See attachments. Image "
MC-1040_1.png" shows the enchanted iron pickaxe suddenly being thrown to the ground after the actions described above. Image "MC-1040_2.png" shows it back in my hotbar after I picked it back up off the ground.I am unable to reproduce any problems in single player creative or survival. Can you please give more details and explain what you mean by it "doesn't work?" Are you receiving an error?
Confirmed in single player creative.
In order to confirm your problem, we must have more information than this. Please post the exact steps for reproducing, screenshots and the crash report. Otherwise, we will be unable to help. Needless to say, I am unable to reproduce at this stage,
Please be certain to search the database FIRST for the problem you are having as the majority of tickets submitted are duplicates. We've all done it. I did it the other day. We just have to try a little harder.
Dupe of
MC-53439.Please correct me if I am wrong, but don't worlds older than 1.6.4 have to be converted before they can be successfully opened in versions >= 1.6.4?
Please post more details. Activating the F3 debug screen on the screenshot is a start. After that, is this single player creative or survival or multiplayer? If multiplayer, is it a vanilla server or a Bukkit server? What is the exact light level on the blocks where the mobs are spawning? What is the difficulty level set to and what time of day is it in the world? As many details as you can provide will be helpful. It will be next to impossible for us to try and reproduce this as is.
Please do not post bugs with no description or text. A screenshot will not help us try and reproduce this problem without further information.
Can you confirm that you are indeed using a multiplayer server when experiencing this? If so, StevenNL2000 is almost certainly correct in his assessment.
This is strange. I have started noticing this happen to me seemingly at random in 1.8. When I attempt to load a world by double-clicking on it, it often doesn't open and I have to click the button below to start it. If I repeatedly double-click on it over and over, it eventually loads. I have been unable to find other tickets like this.
StevenNL2000: PLEASE forgive me for this post as I realize this is not the correct venue for contacting you. I am relativity new to this system. I have been unable to find how to contact posters or commenters (such as yourself). Is there a place I can go in this system if I wanted to PM you, a mod or a poster for example?
Please do not post bug reports without any description or information. We are unable to attempt to reproduce any problems you may have if you do not supply us with any information. Please let us know what you were doing at the time the problem happened, how to reproduce it and the effects it is having. Screenshots would be helpful too if applicable. Thank you!
Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "stuff was being download (but not really..."? Thank you!
Please do not create a bug report without sufficient information. We are unable to attempt to reproduce any issues you may have if we don't know what the problem is. Please reply with a description of the problem, what you were doing at the time it happened, how to reproduce it, any applicable screenshots and any crash reports that may have been generated. Also, if you do not think it is a bug, please do not post it here. Thank you!
The cave sound doesn't necessarily indicate a cave-proper, per se. Please see the Wiki on Ambient Sounds to see if any of those conditions applied at the time you heard the sound. It can also be generated by player created dark spaces. http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Ambience
Did you actually visually observe a slime spawn on top of the bottom two obsidian blocks and then disappear into the Nether?
Would it be possible for you to post a screenshot of the portal and the surrounding environment the Slimes seem to been traveling through? I'm just a little confused about the part where there are "no other spaces" in which they can spawn. Thanks!

Would you be able to attach the world to this post so we can login and try it?
Can you please provide either the world seed or attach the world itself to this post or even both? Also, what mode were you playing in?
Please pardon me if you have already checked on this, but many people forget they are running a texture pack when they upgrade to 1.8. If the texture pack hasn't been updated to match certain changes (like enchanting using lapis now, for a random example), issues like this may occur.

I apologize but I am unable to understand the written portion of your bug report so that video all I have to go on. Please force a crash by pressing and holding F+C for 10 seconds and then attach the crash report to this ticket so that we may analyze it. The crash report can be located in ".minecraft\crash-reports" directory. Be sure to select the latest crash report by date. Even though it appears you are in Survival mode, try switching your game more to Creative and then back to Survival. We want to make sure it isn't stuck in Spectator mode somehow. Also, I see that you are using a texture pack. Please disable the texture pack completely for testing purposes. Also, in your video settings, change your Render Distance to something small like 3 chunks, change your Graphics to "Fast", change your Smooth Lighting to "Minimum", change your Clouds to "Off", change your Particles to "Minimal" and your Max Framerate to "Unlimited". Save the changes, exit the game completely, reload and try again.
This may or may not help but I am taking my best guess just based on the video. Please let us know your results.
Agreed. Your failure to find diamonds is almost certainly purely statistical probabilities.
Also, check to see if your video card drivers were recently automatically updated by Windows or any other software and check the refresh rate of your monitor in the video settings.
Unable to reproduce in single player survival.
Agreed.
Confirmed in single player survival. I searched the bug reports and did not find any with this specific complaint, but please forgive me if it is there and I missed it. It does seem that you chat history gets erased with tab completion of "/give @p minecraft:"
Confirmed in single player survival however I have not yet found a way to reproduce this on demand. It happens to me "at random".
I apologize but I do not understand all of your wording in the description. Can you please elaborate? Exact steps for reproducing and screenshots of the before and after would be especially helpful.
Are your keyboard commands setup to handle specifically a "CTRL+Q" for dropping items? Hit escape, click "Options" and then "Controls". Look at the "Drop Item" command. What does it say for the key configuration?
Unless I am misunderstanding what you are saying, this works as intended. Please see the sections labeled "Tilde notation" and "Target selector arguments" in the Wiki at http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Commands
Confirmed in single player survival. Very interesting. However this appears to be a duplicate of

Please provide a screenshot of the dialog asking you if you want to "Fix the problem" along with any error information it may give. Is the dialog asking about fixing the problem coming from Windows because the application itself has crashed or is this an error being generate within the Launcher? . In multiplayer, command blocks can only be edited successfully by operators in creative mode, and for command blocks to work at all the following values must be set in the server.properties file:
enable-command-block must be set to true
op-permission-level must be set to 2 or above (default is 4)

Respectfully, I believe the gentleman above already answered that question:
"This is a technical support issue; this site is for bug reports only. For technical support please use the Mojang Support Center."
The "Affected Versions" section automatically collapses after it gets to a certain length so you actually have to click on it to see that 1.8 is listed in there as well. It's very easy to miss because of that. I've done it myself.

Unable to reproduce using the following steps:
1) Start a new single player creative game.
2) From the creative inventory, add to the hotbar 1 anvil, 1 dispenser, 1 wooden button and 1 cake.
3) Place the anvil and click on it to open its GUI.
4) Place the cake in the first slot of the Anvil's GUI and click in the "Repair & Name" field.
5) Rename the cake to "CheeseCake" (for example).
6) Remove the named Cake from the third slot of the Anvil's GUI and place it in the hotbar.
7) Exit the Anvil's GUI.
8) Place the dispenser and Shift+Click the wooden button onto the side of the Dispenser.
9) Click on the dispenser to open its GUI and place the named Cake into it.
10) Exit the Dispenser's GUI and click on its wooden button.
11) Pick up the dispensed cake and observe it is still named "CheeseCake".
Images attached showing inability to reproduce using above method.

As of 10/09/2014 in 1.8 single player survival on a machine with mid-range hardware, I am having the same problem. At night, you can walk through a plains biome (with LARGE BIOMES set) and almost never see a single enemy. I need string from spiders, for instance, and I am on day 11 and have seen only about 5 mobs at night total. This is really causing trouble. The game is approaching unplayable because I cannot get the resources I need from mobs. When night fell, I walked 300 blocks through a plains biome and literally saw 1 zombie, that's it. Has there been any update about when this will be addressed? Thanks so much! -Matthew

I am having this very same problem only under 1.8.3. It seems odd to me that something this obvious would go unresolved this long and there be such a low number of votes and watchers on this ticket. I kind of thought the maximize button would be something a lot of people use. Because of boring reasons no one wants to hear, I must play Minecraft in non-fullscreen mode so it looks like I won't be able to use 1.8.3 at all until this is fixed...
