In the new 1.18 terrain generation, rivers are way wider than in the old generation. When this is combined with the 16x size of biomes in a "large biomes" world, rivers no longer look like rivers and look more like huge lakes... This wouldn't be a problem if rivers in Large Biomes were separated by thousands of blocks, but they pop up every few hundreds of blocks, making the world look like a map of Finland riddled with lakes everywhere.
This even spoils the feeling in arid biomes like mesas, which no longer feel like desertic inland biomes because every few blocks you stumble upon another huge lake.
Please consider that people who like playing on large biomes like
sthe sense of increased immersion in a particular biome, but want to preserve the feeling that rivers still look like rivers and not like enormous lakes sprinkling the world everywhere.Suggestion: Maybe in Large Biomes worlds rivers shouldn't be scaled 4x along the X and Z axis and instead a mere 2x or 1.5x could alleviate this effect.

Yes, that floating issue is a bit weird.
Well, the game freezes without popping up the crash report console... I need to do Ctrl+Alt+Supr to close it. But I'll add it anyways.
Mod Mustek, my computer was perfectly able to manage the extra chunks in previous snapshots.
Ok, after a few tests (increasing assigned RAM etc.) maybe you are right and my computer can't handle so many chunks. If I assign more RAM the bug occurs less often.
This bug report should be reopened since the problem still exists as with the last snapshots.
Right, my client crashes when I fall out of the world from the stone platform in the superflat world.
I tried a new world on peaceful and same problem.
Just trying the last snapshop (15w45a) and the problem still exists.
As of 16w02a, this problem still exists. As I said, the latest snapshot without this bug was 15w41b. Maybe they could check the 15w41b code to find out what's causing this issue.
Sorry, but the bug is not resolved. As of 16w03a, the bug is still present.
Checking 16w07a right now and the problem still unresolved.
Confirmed in 1.14.1... Make a "Large Biomes" world with the seed -904606106. I don't consider it a bug though, I like from time to time this kind of spawn, especially with the new ocean content from 1.13 upwards.
I remember there was a biome mod (don't remember which one) that changed sky color in a seamless transition... Whenever you stepped onto a biome with a new sky color, the color would start morphing smoothly from the origin color to the destination color... The process took like 10 seconds to complete, you didn't even notice it...
The images attached show two different rivers that almost overlap each other. This is a constant occurrence, because rivers are everywhere.
In
MC-241853you can see on the maps that in large biomes, rivers are a bit wider and look like lakes, while in normal biomes, look more like proper rivers. So I would say that they are somewhat scaled.Done.
Do you mean it's exactly the same river? I didn't know the river basin map was the same both in default biomes and in large biomes.
I thought the separation between rivers in Large Biomes would be 4 times higher as well.
