This isn't really a game breaking issue but i rather explain it now than never;
Basically Log4J's 2.19.0 introduced a new changelog which explains that "log4j-slf4j18-impl" has been cut from their latest update which means all SLF4J products that are not on 2.0.x might not function as intended in binding program - The SLF4J context can be found here,
The latest SLF4J version
at time of writingis 2.0.1on the other hand which is fully compatible with "log4j-slf4j2-impl" in it's own case.This isn't really a game breaking issue but i rather explain it now than never;

When updating the Netty library from the bundled 4.1.97 version to 4.1.109 or higher, Opening any worlds in Minecraft Java 1.20.5 will cause connectivity to immediately drop regardless of singleplayer with an error message saying that 14 bytes extra in minecraft:custom_payload packet was found - This issue does not occur when going back to Minecraft Java 1.20.4 or older.
This can be reproduced on both vanilla launcher and modded launchers that allow updating libraries as desired.

Confirmed on a Windows Server 2019 machine, The minecraft launcher has a broken java checker where it cannot detect newer java versions properly without thinking it's outdated in one way or another. + Any other version that however meets the JDK 16 context also fails to launch and thous requires the java-checker to be removed in order to run.
EDIT: Older versions of Minecraft such as 1.16.5 can also no longer run newer java versions as javacheck.jar also now blocks them entirely aswell.
Can reproduce this with my iPad and my linux machine - the chunks in java are completely broken unlike bedrock's end.
Can reproduce this even without third-party mods installed that try to tweak it, And it is kinda annoying in reality when this appears to be more of an vanilla issue than what older versions can produce.
Can reproduce this and it seems to be one of the biggest problems since then all player data gets completely swapped to a first-time player save including blank copies of ender chest containers.
Can confirm this here on KUbuntu 23.04 (Beta) with latest Minecraft Launcher.
Confirmed, this makes server performance much worse than the previous version 1.20.1.
