I'm not sure if this is just a bug or works as intended but I noticed that giving item frames an "EntityTag" tag won't apply any changes when you place them.
For example, I expect this item frame to have the tag "test" when placed.
/give @p item_frame{EntityTag:{Tags:["test"]}}Edit: I feel like all summonable entities should support the "EntityTag" tag. I don't see why it should only work for armor stands & spawn eggs. It can be useful for all entities.

Summonable entities via items:
- Item Frame
- Painting
- Minecarts
- End Crystal
- Throwable items (Ender Pearl, Snowball, ...) (Lingering potions will have their changes stored in themselves as thrown potions aswell as in the area effect cloud they will summon)
- Arrows shot by a bow (If an arrow item is being used which has the tag)
- Maybe even fishing bobbers when summoned using a rod which has the tag (for consistency)

- Maybe even fishing bobbers when summoned using a rod which has the tag (for consistency)

So, I see that fish buckets do work with EntityTag. Come on now, we need this for other items too.

The title says it all. And again I'm not sure if this is a bug or the way it works since armor stands are 2 blocks high normally.
However, an addition to be able to place armor stands in a 1 block high space if "Small:1b" is set wouldn't only make more sense, but also be super useful in a lot of cases. The title says it all. I've noticed that data modify behaves differently since snapshot 19w03a.
In contrast to previous snapshots:
- Trying to write to a non-existent list-NBT-path will no longer generate its path (non-list paths still work).
- The attempt to write to a path which already contains the same data will no longer be rejected (You were able to use this to check for NBT equality).
The data bugfixes in 19w03a might be the cause?

Someentities can't be used as asource of profile on loot tables without them being triggered by a player breaking a block or using a loot command as an entity. For example, a block's loot table can be triggered due to terrain explosion damage with its source being a tnt entity, creeper, wither skull, etc. However, those type of source profiles aren't available.

Can I add to this that the iteration-order of the list to copy from may be inconsistent?
If you have this storage-data setup:
data modify storage main Foo set value [I;] data modify storage main Bar set value [I; 1, 2]And do the following:
data modify storage main Foo append from storage main Bar[]Results in "Foo" to now be "[I; 1, 2]" as expected.
data modify storage main Foo prepend from storage main Bar[]Results in the same as above, although expected "Foo" to now be "[I; 2, 1]". The iteration-order of "Bar" seems to be flipped (top to bottom).
So the iteration-order seems to depend on wether you "append" or "prepend". Same happens when inserting to an index. I guess "append/prepend" just borrows behavior from "insert", so "append" is "insert -1" and "prepend" is "insert 0".
Or I guess it's WAI. Maybe all entries get processed first and then later on inserted as a batch which is of a fixed order, so appending/prepending only determines wether you want to insert that batch at the back or front.
@Teixon, this might not be (very easily) fixable because armor stands can be placed inside replacable blocks, however the methods used by the normal mob spawning only check if blocks have a collision box.
Either way you should create a separate report for that and please comment the report number here afterwards then please.
Teixon I think you're confusing entities and items. The tag works already for spawn eggs (which includes most entities) and armour stands, just not for item frames.
I really hope this gets fixed in the next snapshot. It would make things kinda messy if this was the intended way.
Well, I'd use it to target the blockspace you placed this item frame in. So you could use it to place different blocks based on its nbt-data. I'd use it for a vanilla mod in which I don't want to retexture any blocks but have entities act like the "custom blocks". I'd just put a durability affected item on an armor stand's head and retexture the item based on its damage value. Since you're now able to place item frames on the ceiling/floor this would be even more useful.
Another thing to mention: armor stands can't be placed in a 1 block high space. They always need at least 2 blocks. This is where item frames come in handy. And the issue with spawn eggs: You can use them to overwrite mob spawners which would ruin a survival world.
So an item frame would be the perfect target entity in this case.
Yes! Also, I wonder if throwable items (snowball, etc.) could have it too? I can see some good uses for that aswell.
And a nice addition to armor stands would be to remove the 2 block space requirement if the armor stand's EntityTag nbt-data has "Small:1b" set.
MC-123453Nah it's ok I just hope item frames will get fixed.
It's a bug? Always thought this was just how it works since armor stands are 2 blocks high normally.
"Afterwards" yes, but "before" doesn't work. Would make sense if you could.
Ye sure.
Well there are still some others like paintings, end crystals, throwable items like potions, snowballs, .. could work aswell imo. Maybe even arrows.
I really need this fixed. My inventory won't update if I replace a slot too quickly. The only workaround working for me is to clear my slot with something else to refresh it before replacing it with the actual item. Can't do this in any case however.
Forgot to mention leads actually for when you bind them to a fence.
Just checked using tnt. Seems to work now! Still need to check all other cases but I guess its fixed.
Can confirm. I think it's suppose to be hidden when it's just an empty object. However, it won't auto-complete any non-empty resource-location on a rejoin either.

Right now, "copy_nbt" in loot-tables relates to nbt, based on context, of either the tile-entity of the block-space which was affected or the entity causing the loot-table to trigger. So I don't think storage will be supported if they keep their current concept and behavior of the "copy_nbt" function.
