This seems like one of those bugs that should be a feature, like if for all animals you could crouch and they would ignore bait, probably breaks some AFK farms tho, I don't know of any but I assume someone out their will miss it. Mac Rat? This break something for you or just something you noticed?
I noticed because in the earlier versions you had to crouch to tame ocelots, while in 1.14 the cats only come to the player, if you walk normally. Would make sense that both sneaking AND walking would work.
Can't replicate in 20w11a. Are you sure you're being still? Even sudden head movements can scare cats, when I sneak toward them they come to me.
Ok, so after testing it seems like you can't even walk/move while sneaking at all. You have to stand still.
This makes taming really difficult, because you can't go closer to them without moving. You just have to stand still and hope that one of the cats randomly walks towards your direction after a while.
Can confirm in 1.17.1.
It's worse than that. You cannot even move the camera, even when holding raw fish, because the cat runs away immediately.
