MC-212992Translucent blocks render before block break layer
Translucent blocks like stained glass are rendered after the block break layer and lead to the block break effect being put under the texture of the block. This issue is especially noticeable with resource packs that make these blocks less translucent and mods that intend to add blocks that are translucent.
Attached is a video that demonstrates this issue with the vanilla white stained glass block.

the creator of the issue is still active, what made you think they weren't?
The most recent activity was from 3 years ago, and the last affected version added onto this issue was 1.18. If you are active now, I do not care who owns the issue as long as it's kept up to date
oh I didn't know it was my responsibility to maintain an issue on a game I don't maintain, that's a new premise to me. I'll add the version you say still is affected. Not sure if I can add any prior ones between then and now without testing, even though I can pretty safely assume it is an issue in them as well.
After further checking, this actually seems to describe the same behavior as MC-161926
yeah, it is. However it doesn't look like I can set the status field, even though I can control the affected version field
