This applies to single eggs.
If you throw a sheep egg on the ground (press Q), it will have the wrong texture.

Can confirm. They seem to have the exact same texture as Ghast eggs.
This appears to be fixed as of 12w50a.
Not in fast graphics though.
Right because the 3D item effect is turned off.
Affects 1.6.4.
Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w05b? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
Fixed in 14w05a, I tested some older versions too and 14w05a is the first one where the bug is fixed.
