Previously reported in MC-73027, closed because unable to reproduce. Can you reproduce this on a 1.8.1-pre1 server and client?
Duplicate of MC-73027, but:
This ticket is invalid as it relates to a modified or 3rd party client, server, or launcher.
- Any non-standard client/server/launcher build needs to be taken up with the appropriate team, not Mojang.
- Any plugin issues need to be addressed to the creator of the plugin or resource pack.
- This site is for addressing issues related to the base unmodded Minecraft; Bukkit, Forge, Optifine, or any other modded system invalidates your ticket, unless it can be shown to happen in Vanilla.
- Additionally, if you have problems on large-scale modded servers, please report it to their site. It's probably not a bug in Vanilla Minecraft.

Names in chat aren't colored either, but I can't recall if they were before.
Can't reproduce, it works for me. http://media.dinnerbone.com/uploads/2014-10/screenshots/15_17-01-29_rsxCrtSlax.png
Whoops, forgot to /scoreboard teams join after creating the team and setting up some objectives. Cannot reproduce either.

This happens on servers that use the method of putting § in front of names. To re-create try servers like us.mineplex.com and mc.hypixel.com
Luke Ruggiero, those are modified servers. Its their problem.
Also, Mojang is actually planning to remove support for that symbol (§) entirely (Dinnerbone from
MC-33145):@Sonic
Not really, Mojang actually is planning on ending support for § symbol, not removing it. If § was removed the "Colormatic" splash could get ruined.
If they do remove support for §, they should still leave it with the random numbers and §s in it as a little easter egg / tribute thing to when it was supported
They are going to entirely remove the functionality of the § symbol, and instead make everything work in the same way that tellraw does.
