Ladder disapearing when using waterbucket
Steps to reproduce:-
-Dig 1x1 hole (20 blocks deep)
-put ladders in
-stand on ladders with waterbucket in hand and hold shift
- rightclick the opposite wall of the ladders
-the ladder opposite to the block you right clicked on should disapear (or should not, unless it's a feature)

It's simply how [Mojang] Grum (Erik Broes) decided to fix MC-8220, MC-3737, and many others. Placing water "breaks" the block it replaces, so that it drops them as items if appropriate. This happened with water and lava for a while (See MC-18365), but Grum was able to fix that, so I'll bring this ticket to his attention and see if he wants to revisit this.

Bug or Feature ?
Either it shouldn't be possible to replace a ladder with water or it should drop a ladder, see
MC-3737.Have seen this behaviour long since 1.4.2 and have just confirmed this in 1.4.6 SSP. This happens in 1x1 laddershafts of any height when you apply a water bucket on any unoccupied wall of the shaft (not just only the opposite one). This also happens with other wall-mounted items like torches. This behaviour also applies to lava buckets as well (due to same mechanics i suppose).

Torch destruction is intentional, but not ladder destruction.
Torch destruction yields no item though, which is definitely not ok.
@grum is this also fixed for rails?

MC-72614this is back in 1.8. (It does drop items though.)EDIT: This affects all non-solid blocks (except for replacing water and lava with the opposite liquid) and could be merged with
MC-33015.EDIT 2: Also affects 1.8.1-pre1.
