Mobs see void as a solid block
While experimenting in my snapshot world, I decided to have a little fun with a game of tag: Zombies and Villagers. However there were holes in the ground and I found this behavior odd: they would walk straight toward their target without regard of the obstacles. I have a video here:

Offscreen however I found that the same behavior applies to all walking hostile mobs targeting players. They seem to try and navigate around fire though. This appears to be intended.
Created Issue:
Pathfinding to target does not seem to work as intended.

After some testing it seems the issue is mobs see void as a solid block.
Still an issue in 1.10.2.
Probably still an issue in all versions between 1.10.2 and 17w15a
(I tested 17w15a and the bug still happens)
Can confirm for MC 1.12.1. Also seems to apply to tamed ocelots (cats), they just walk straight off my platform and fall into the void when I try to lure them with fish.

Cannot reproduce anymore. In a scenario like this, the zombie would never step in the void.
