Minecraft Dungeons sound delay after accessing menus
I am encountering a bug where whenever I access any type of menu no new sounds start playing and do not return for a while, but it does eventually come back sometimes and other times it just crashes.
The more actions done that involve the menus (Example: Enchanting, scrapping, buying from blacksmith multiple times) increases the time the game spends delaying the sounds and thus increasing the chance of a crash occurring.
When the sound comes back all the sounds that would have played during this time play at the same time.
Menus that can be interacted with are:
- Inventory
- Main menu
- Blacksmith/Wandering trader
- Friends tab
During this time enemies stop moving but will still attack if able to and consumables fall through the floor.
If I try to play a mission during this time the game crashes. It has been happening since launch and I'm on PC.

I found the solution to my problem. Turns out the sound card needed to be updated manually.
So whenever you enter a menu such as the player's inventory, the sound effects temporarily stop for a while, depending on how much time you spend in the inventory. During this time, if you are in a level, the map does not show any walls or explored area, only the player icons, this applies for both the transparent map overlay and the full map. In addition, any explored area is not marked when the sound comes back. Sometimes the sound comes back, and other times the game just crashes, the chance of the game crashing increases based on how long the sound has been out for. Oddly, I have found that when the sound goes out, if you go into the map in the camp (only the map in the camp works for this) the sound generally comes back faster, and the chance of crashing is greatly decreased.
It looks like MCD-3826, MCD-6080, and MCD-7202, but none of the solutions worked.
I have a Realtek audio card, and have updated and reinstalled its drivers.
The version selection wouldn't let me choose anything older than 1.16.2.0. This has been happening ever since version 1.14 (Luminous Night) and I currently have the latest version.
1 week after upload and still no reply. Please it's getting even more infuriating with at least 8 crashes a day
