When I quit the game, I expected the Minecraft Launcher to quit immediately.
Instead, the Minecraft Launcher remains open for a long time. I timed it at about 20 secs after Minecraft is closed before the launcher quits. The launcher is the grass block icon that you click to enter the game, as opposed to the crafting block icon that opens when Minecraft is launched.
1. Open Minecraft as usual.
2. Hit quit game on the main screen.
3. Watch the Minecraft Launcher remain open.

I don't understand... the Minecraft Launcher isn't supposed to close when the game closes. What option do you have set for the launcher visibility in your profile settings?

MCL-1280Not 100% duplicate, but it deals with the same kind of issues.
Also, the default behavior is to close the launcher when the game starts, but this behavior is improperly labeled, because the launcher does not actually close until after you quit the game completely.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 14w19a / Launcher version 1.3.11 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
This certainly happens with 14w20a & 1.4.2, however it's gotten much shorter in duration.
Anyhow, I'm going to guess that this improvement is due to using Java 8 instead of Java 6 or 7.
This ticket is entirely contained within the last 3 words of the title of
MCL-1280, so this ticket is technically a duplicate.This ticket is about the time it takes for the launcher process to end after the game has been closed.
MCL-1280is specifically about the icon still appearing on the Mac OS X dock while supposedly being hidden. I suppose the comments there have made that a little confusing.@CubeTheThird I didn't have any setting set for Launcher Visibility

Frank, over half of my reports have been duplicates, and I always do searches beforehand. It's just something we have to deal with.
