Minecraft new storage location deletes files

steps to reproduce:
- install Minecraft 1.17.41
- create a world and play for a little
- save it and uninstall it.
- install 1.18.0.02
- signup and use that option game gives to move file.
- then go in to your world and play.
- then save it and close the game.
- then clear the game cache memory also use storage cleaner.(use built-in storage cleaner if possible. Else no need.)
- then go back and open the game.
observe results:
you'll see you have signed out of the game. If you go to settings and open profile then change file location to external it will not show your world.
if you open your file manager and go to com.mojang.minecraftpe/games/com.mojang/MinecraftWorld/your world file, there will be only 3 folder completely empty, no game db, no resource pack and no nothing.
Expected results: you lots your world, you lost your progress unless you have a backup.
Its not happening to me only. A lot of players facing the same issue. so there must be some issue and even if I dont use the cleaner it still gets deleted after clearing cache memory. I hope you guys will do a deep investigation on this.

steps to reproduce:
- install Minecraft 1.17.41
- create a world and play for a little
- save it and uninstall it.
- install 1.18.0.02
- signup and use that option game gives to move file.
- then go in to your world and play.
- then save it and close the game.
- then clear the game cache memory also use storage cleaner.(use built-in storage cleaner if possible. Else no need.)
- then go back and open the game.
observe results:
you'll see you have signed out of the game. If you go to settings and open profile then change file location to external it will not show your world.
if you open your file manager and go to com.mojang.minecraftpe/games/com.mojang/MinecraftWorld/your world file, there will be only 3 folder completely empty, no game db, no resource pack and no nothing.
Expected results: you lots your world, you lost your progress unless you have a backup.

Same here. Android 12, Samsung S10e. Storage location Application. /Android/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe/files/games/com.mojang/ exists and has directories in it, however, all are empty even though I have over 100 worlds in the game. /games does not even exist and there is no SD card in the phone. The worlds are not lost (as suggested in the MCPE-149493 The worlds can be played in the game but I am unable to locate them in the filesystem. Minecraft 1.20.15. Scared to clean or update OS or app not to lose them. Please help
Wanted to copy out worlds to a new phone. Using Application storage location, /Android/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe/files/games/com.mojang/ exists and has directories in it, however these show as empty (both in mobile explorer and on PC through USB). /games does not exist. Worlds are not lost (they can be played in the game) but are not located where expected in the filesystem. There is no SD card in the phone. Unable to locate them for copying/backup. Samsung S10e. Please help. This is not a duplicate to the MCPE-149493

No i already saw this i transferred it successfully after a few mins playin it Force closes then boom my files are empty u just deleted all of my world packs lol
Hello, I am also having the same issue.
Yes, I have transferred my Minecraft files to the new location, but after closing the game for some time and then reopening it, all the files in the new location were reset causing data loss.
deleted my world files. Luckily I had backup.
also when you clear cache memory, or free some space using built in phone booster it will also delete the files. previously it wasn't the case. Refered article shared by Dev Jay is not that helpful. cause when game moves the file it deletes game data, db all other files and keep only like 2/3 folder with nothing in it. and making file location external from the profile doesn't change a thing cause its already deleted

observe results:
you'll see you have signed out of the game. If you go to settings and open profile then change file location to external it will not show your world.
if you open your file manager and go to com.mojang.minecraftpe/games/com.mojang/MinecraftWorld/your world file, there will be only 3 folder completely empty, no game db, no resource pack and no nothing.
Expected results: you lots your world, you lost your progress unless you have a backup.
please everyone, dont be disrespectful and don't say anything stupid. They are the gave devs. They understand how the game works better then us. There must be some reason to behind moving files cause they were working to make game much smoother and lag free cause world hight and depth increased. There must be some reason. They are working hard always and always work for our betterment. so please show some respect and be patient. They are human being and please give them some time and support they want.

Rafin Chowdhury Clearing only the app cache doesn't do anything here, so the correct solution would be to not use the storage cleaner on Minecraft (or make an exception for it). It's quite strange that it's the one deleting the contents of Android/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe.
Its not happening to me only. A lot of players facing the same issue. so there must be some issue and even if I dont use the cleaner it still gets deleted after clearing cache memory. I hope you guys will do a deep investigation on this.

Literally I my game just got reset now. I haven't cleared anything still gone. That file location is the pain. If you want proof I can share screenshot of many players. They are posting memories of their world. Please please bring back the old file system. else a lot of players will be gone.

Android devices. Mine is Android 10, color os7.

Im not using MIUI. Im using Realme UI 1.0
App cleaner is cleaning cache memory only. But as Its making problem with my game I didn't used it for a day. Last day I copied all my world files again into game files from my backup and played for a little bit. Today when I re-opened the game everything was gone again. I wan clarify I haven't used any cleanup type apps or haven't done any cleanup of other apps as well. But still it does that.
last night I created a world for test and played for a little bit. Then I saved the game and closed Minecraft. This morning I re-opened the game and world was gone. Few folders was there but all the db and other important files were deleted. I didn't used any cleanup or anything. Please bring back the old file system. This file system is too painful 😣😣
Using ColorOS V5.2.1(android 8.1.0) here,I believe that I do not have any cache clearing applications installed so if that's the problem it may be due to my decide being sneaky and including one.
Even with a fresh install of Minecraft hasn't stopped it and it has now claimed my worlds three separate times.
Could you please tell us your exact phone model and brand - without it we may not be able to reproduce the issue.

It's not a phone or cleaner issue it also happened with me. Last night I played Minecraft and after that just closed Minecraft and slept on night at morning I opened Minecraft and saw that evey Worlds, login info, 3rd-party texture packs etc. are missing. I haven't even touched my phone still happened with me. After that I backed-up all of files from Google drive than played for 2to3 days and it happened again
Some phones come with built-in "storage clean up" or "Phone Manager" functions that may be causing the issues you are facing. For example, the Realme phone mentioned here previously has such a function as mentioned here: https://c.realme.com/in/post-details/1289565694274306048
This is possibly where the problem lies, with Minecraft saves being mistaken for unwanted files. Additionally, some devices have an automatic cleaning setting, which is likely to be what is causing the issue that you've mentioned. It might need to disable auto cleaning for temporary times until the cleaner are patched. (For oppo and realme device)
I used this solution and worked for me in my oppo device (Phone Manager).
If you want to clean the cache or junk file, please don't tick all. Expect the Minecraft to keep your worlds.

Unfortunately this is not an issue with the Minecraft game itself, therefore we are unable to track it here as a bug.

The change was required by Google.
This problem only happens with worlds saved on external storage, right?
This happens to me when I set my storage to external. And it's not the cleaner app that's affecting it. If I simply close the game after playing then re-open it, all my settings are reset and my worlds are gone. I'm using Xiaomi Redmi Note 11. Android 11, MIUI 13.
Google required a storage change, sure, but how did you develop this 'solution' without giving any consideration to saving customers worlds?
I've got an 8 year old beside herself today because all of a sudden everything is gone.
Look in games/com.mojang says the app, except that folder doesn't exist.
I had a world I worked for 3 years and many, many more important worlds, and since this update... they are all gone! This happened in 2020 and makes me feel sad to this day.
My Minecraft game restarts and deleting my worlds and resetting my skins and texture pack.
