"X" and "Z" coordinates are mirrored; "f" position is rotated 90° clockwise.
Previously, the issue was concerned about the Sunrise/Sunset cycle being from North/South respectively, instead of East/West (that may still be the case if the coordinate system is indeed correct).
However, the real issue may be that the "X" and "Z" coordinates may be flipped/warped; the "Z" (supposedly "X") coordinates (positive/negative-wise) are also mirrored.
The "f" position may also be affected as well (completely rotated 90° clockwise).

Created Issue:
Sunrise and Sunset patterns are similar to PC Beta.
I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but the Sunrise and Sunset patterns on PE are from North to South respectively just like in the PC Beta version as opposed to East to West which is the current pattern on Console and PC. If this wasn't intentional, then I'm letting you know this is the current pattern as of now.

Still an ongoing issue (unless proven otherwise) in 1.0.0.

I was told that the map direction & default placement on an item frame was bugged, so this could be invalid or something.
Update:
-Apparently according the mini-map mods I've used, the sun rising is pointed to the North instead of East, and the sun setting is pointed to the South instead of the West.
-The same could be said with the F3 mods, they say the exact same thing.
Beta Build 3 is affected.
Affects 1.0 Beta Build 6.
(I have noticed that seeing as how the pumpkin stub texture faces northwest, the north direction also indicates the sun/moon rising)
Affecting 1.0.2.
Affecting 1.0.3.0.
Affects 1.0.4.0.

Thank you for your report!
However, this issue has been closed as Working as Intended.
The sunrise/sunset pattern has been intentionally changed, as it was previously incorrect (see ticket MCPE-16615).

Try to keep it to one report per issue. For the sun, see MCPE-16615
I'm upset about it, but they meant to do it.

It was actually a bug beforehand, which was fixed: MCPE-16615.

Ok, so in PC, travelling North is negative Z , so ten steps North from x0 y4 z0 will take you to x0 y4 z-10
In pocket edition, walking 10 steps 'North' (according to the direction of the sun and the sunflowers) will move you towards negative X instead.
Using Sunflowers and cobblestone, you can clearly see the difference (Note the pattern on the cobblestone, and that the Sunflower should be facing EAST):

This explains why when you place a map on an item frame, in PC/Java the top of the map will be North, but in MCPE it's East. (See
MCPE-13187)So, the maps on PE are actually rotated (North is actually East and South is actually West)?
Additionally, another means of orientation is using Clouds which always float west. This means in MCPE the sun should set in the direction that the clouds float, but it does not currently.

I hope coordinate like real world.
I just tested this in iOS version 1.0.0. Given that the sun rises in the west, and goes down in the east the following still applies:
That is the good part, but still the following applies:
So the bug is still in action, or the coordinate system is somewhat mirrored or warped.
[MCPE Helper] Aspergerian as the author of the ticket you can update the affected versions of it.
So it looks like the potential real issues here are...
The "X" and "Z" coordinates are mirrored;
-The "X" (supposed to be "Z") coordinates (in terms of positive-negative changes) are correct.
-However, the "Z" (supposed to be "X") coordinates (in terms of positive-negative changes) are mirrored as well;
(travelling West = increasing instead of decreasing)
(travelling East = decreasing instead of increasing)
It is also noted, that the "f" directional positions are entirely shifted 90° clockwise;
(0 = West instead of South)
(1 = North instead of West)
(2 = East instead of North)
(3 = South instead of East)
This would also mean that
MCPE-13187is confirmed to be a bug. (still in effect)Alternatively, if the coordinate system is actually correct, then this means the Sunrise/Sunset positions are indeed from North to South respectively. That would also mean that the Pumpkin stem textures, Sunflower positions and cobblestone "L" positions are facing incorrectly.
However, if that were the case, then that means
MCPE-13187is not a bug.Finally fixed as of 1.1.0.0.
