Here is a video: Carrot Bois be pushin.mp4
I was actually working on reproducing MCPE-47212, and ran into MCPE-32627. (You can also see MCPE-60331 going on here.) In the video, you can see that the villagers who are advertising carrots are trying to share them with the farmer. I did not see when they got stuck holding carrots. Since the "holding" animation does not normally play during food sharing, I would guess it was while trying to breed, as other comments attest. I doubt MCPE-32627 triggered this bug because of the picture shared by Wolff showing that this bug occurs with bread too. It could be that this bug triggers when a behavior like breeding or sharing gets interrupted by the villagers being pushed by other mobs. To my knowledge, this holding out food behavior is only supposed to occur to show trade interest, but one of the villagers holding out a carrot in my picture is a nitwit, so he should not even be able to access that behavior.
Got it again! This time with potatoes:
Mega spud boi loves to share.mp4
Observations:
- The Carrot Bois weren't carrot bois anymore after relog.
- This seems to happen to villagers when they are off-screen.
- The Carrot Bois slept holding their carrots. However, The Mega Spud Boi threw spuds to the nitwit all night long.
Is this still an issue in the latest version?
I was not able to reproduce in 1.14.60. Is it possible that cats were spawning because you had other beds or another village nearby? There was a bug that could cause infinite cat spawning, tracked at MCPE-60331, but it required 36 unoccupied beds.

Cats spawn when there are 4 occupied beds in a village - how many beds does your artificial village have? That might explain what's happening.
Cat should be capped at 10. Are they spawning in excess of the cap?
I have 24 villagers with beds.
This might be related to villages expanding (see
MCPE-47014andMCPE-46581)There are more then 10,definitely. just recently killed them all
and cant show it, but usually from 5 to 15 are around villagers(in their rooms) and many just walking around. and many under slaps if not killing them regularly.
My villagers are not breeding or anything, they are all separated. Before fox update there was a similar problem - in one room(5*5*5) iron golems were spawning like mad. If I was staying for a night afk, I could find about 20-30 in one place. but I was not worring about it, because it was easy to kill them all and they were in one tiny place, not everywhere. Honestly, I was kinda busy to think about it. But after fox update, these cats are just killing me
.
In MCPE Windows 10 PC Beta v1.15.0.51 and v1.15.0.53 cats are spawning in abandoned (zombie) villages.
Cat population workaround: put the cats in a fenced area on the outskirts of the village. This will stop the cats spawning. If you kill a cat another replacement cat spawns.
Can confirm this issue on MCPE PS4 1.14.41 SO MANY CATS! Wayyyyy more than 10, more like 40-50. I will note that the world was created in the old "PS4 Edition" of Minecraft then transferred over using the in-game transfer tool.
If anyone having this problem is able to provide a world download that would be helpful.
I have this issue. Large number of cats spawning over time. Uploaded the world to google drive because it's 250 MB. All the beds are under the floor inside the library.

I forgot to mention that this is on Win 10. I just noticed the bug report is for Xbox.
Data from the sample world provided by Klaus Klein:
None of this explains the overspawning of cats.
Update: after running a command to kill all cats and then waiting about an hour, I got 2 iron golems and 214 cats. Evidently the global mob cap of 200 does not apply to cat spawning.
I have reproduced this bug in a small test world: Catpocolypse.mcworld
. The world consists of a village on top of a platform, with beds on two levels. There is a hole in the middle through which the player can fly up and down between the levels in creative mode. At present there are 88 beds, 38 villagers, 3 iron golems, and at least 27 cats in the world. If you open the world and let in run, cats will continue to spawn. Here is a picture of the lower part of the world:
What is happening in both the test world and the world provided by Klaus Klein is that new villages that overlap the cat village's boundaries are repeatedly being created and deleted by the game. These villages have no villagers, but cats spawn in them while they exist. The cats then join the existing base village because they are inside its boundaries, and the newer village is deleted after a period of time (presumably because it has no villagers). (A cat can be registered to both villages for a period of time, but I can't say for sure if it always passes through this step.) The root of the problem is that the game creates new villages overlapping existing ones whenever there is a certain number of unclaimed beds--I have not tested this number precisely, but I've seen comments in village tech discussions saying that 32 unclaimed beds will generate overlapping or "stacked" villages.
Here is a screenshot of data from Klaus Klein's sample world showing that the same cat in a transient villager-less village (on the left) and then in the base village about 4 minutes later (on the right):

Here is a screenshot showing the location and timestamps ("Tick") of the transient villages in his world at the same times as the cat listings shown above. (Note that the window on the left in each picture is the same village at the same time, the window in the right shows the base village in the first picture and the transient village at that time in the picture below.)

The minimum conditions for infinite cat spawning are 2 villagers and 36 unclaimed beds.
Cat Bomb.mcworld
exhibits the bug with minimum conditions. It contains a black box housing 2 villagers and 38 beds that endlessly spawns cats. It keeps the cats contained in a small walled area surrounded by lava. It has a scoreboard and command blocks set up to count the cats. Press any of the buttons on the top corners of the black box to get a count.
Windows 10 PC v1.16.0.59 Beta. Since the last update, there are more cats spawning than beds in my village(s), see attached Overrun with Cats screen shot 1 above. I have rounded up every cat in the village(s) and put them in a pen, but more cats spawn, see attached Overrun with Cats screen shot 2 above. In previous Betas, the containment of cats in a pen stopped the spawning of cats, but that is no longer the case. I wish the option to have cats or not was still in the game.
@Bubbah Doodah would it be possible to get a copy of the world where this is happening?
@GoldenHelmet, here's the link to the latest export of my world: New Coastal Village v1.16.0.59 20200504a
The above screen shots were made at the village located: x=1370 y=71 z=138. For every cat I put in the pen (back of the village) or put the cat outside the village, a new cat spawns.
@Bubba Doodah thank you for the world upload. Here's what's in the village data:
The total beds and cats in the chunks that fall within the village boundaries matches the village data, so there are no unclaimed beds causing more cats to spawn. Based on 4 beds/cat, the village should max at 13 cats. So, there are too many cats in this village, unless the cap has changed. However, this isn't as bad as 200+ cats, so I'm not sure it's the same bug as before.
I have two guesses as to what could be happening here: the cat cap may have changed, or the village boundaries may have recently shifted. The cat pen is presently on the southern edge of the village, and the village is about double the minimum length and width, so it's possible that the cat pen was not within the boundaries for a while.
If you can, could you try these things to narrow down what's going on?
@GoldenHelmet, thanks for the statistics. With the exceptions of 3 added buildings and the fence / guard towers around the perimeter, the village is as originally generated on Bedrock v. 1.13.02 Beta. I suggest you lead any spawned cats to the pen or get the cat outside the perimeter. I think you will find a new cat spawns. I'm have the same problem with all villages in my world. In addition, the issue is occurring in Bedrock v. 1.14.60. In the regular full release, I have tamed the cats which stops the spawning of new cats, but there are no where near as many cats as in the Beta. As you suggested, I will " Move the cat pen closer to center of the village, and see if cat spawning stops". Thanks
.
@Bubba Doodah, I personally am not on the beta so I can't test the fix myself or open your world until the release version. That's why I asked if you could try those things.
@GoldenHelmet, tried moving cats closer to center of the village, but nothing changed. If I tame a cat, it slows the spawning down; but more cats spawn. This was not a problem until v. 1.16.0.59 Beta. Cats are out of control. I would prefer if dogs were out of control.
Resolving issues that were marked as fixed in the 1.15 and 1.16 Betas, now that 1.16.0 is being released.
