Changed Summary:
Clicking super secret settings in the main menu throws an exception (but does not crash)
Added Affects Versions: 14w08a

I found another version of this glitch in 12w05a: http://imgur.com/a/KKAtW
It works every time I have tried.
Added pictures of the same preset with only a level 50 gap between floor and ceiling, which works.
It still affects the 1.5 prerelease.
Do you mean maps as in the item or are you talking about level saves?
Check in the "crash-reports" folder of your .minecraft and see if a crash report was generated, but not displayed.
I do not know if this is related, but when a player is killed on a LAN game and they are out of loaded chunk range, then the other players are unable to see the first player until he or they relogs or dies.
This happened to me, too. I could still play the world, but my friend could not log in. No errors were logged in the console, either.
Can you attach a copy of the entire console output?
I did a search of all the sources from the snapshot jar, and the string "Invalid memory access of location" was never found. I believe this may be an issue with LWJGL, especially considering how a normal java program cannot access raw memory, which is what the error is implying.
The computer your environment stats describe seems old. Are you sure this bug is not just caused by using an old computer?
Do you have fully updated graphics drivers? You could be right about the render changes causing this, in which case updated drivers may help.
This is still an issue in 13w18c.
Can you upload a copy of the world?
EDIT: Or post the seed
This has happened to me since about version 1.3. Also in older versions if you click the "play selected world" button, the click will not play until the game has flashed back to the menu.
It loaded fine for me.
EDIT: But the console logged a bunch of random coords while loading, it could be related.
My computer has always done this, the fix is to disable the auto-switching graphics in the graphics control panel and set the GPU to discrete/dedicated. I believe this is a bug with LWJGL.
@Oliver Okum
This method does not work with my computer. After googling I discovered it is a bug between java, my computer hardware, and my GPU driver. The autoswitching list is completely ignored regardless of settings, so the only way to enable the dedicated GPU is to force it. The computer is an HP ProBook 4730s Laptop, if you want to look it up.
This has happened since 1.3.2 at least, I have a world from that version with a shroom island that is just like this.
I am pretty sure this has happened since at least the update Maximum smooth lighting was added in.
This may be related to the bug that allows clicking through corner stairs.
This just happened to me.
EDIT: Nevermind
The leaves still delete the bonus chest in the 1.6 Prerelease. Seed 5482309864025477364 has this happen.
This has happened to me since 1.5, and still happens in 1.6.1.
This has happened to me since 1.4. Whenever the sound does not load a stack trace is generated saying that LWJGL could not locate the OpenAL library, and then there is sometimes a line saying that the game is switching to silent mode. Since 1.6 there is also sometimes a long (about 30 seconds) delay that ends when some kind of timer triggers and says that OpenAL took to long to load and loading was terminated.
This has happened since they were added, but I thought it was intended. It would be nice for this to be fixed, however.
I have reproduced this in release 1.6.1. I have a screenshot if interested.
Screenshots of the bug. These were all taken back-to-back as fast as I could hit F2.
@Kumasasa
I am having trouble re-creating the glitch for the crash report, but I am trying to recreate the conditions it happened in. I was hosting a LAN game with 3 players at the time, and just me with the LAN game open or closed does not seem to make it happen. I am getting the same players together and I will try to recreate the bug. If it happens again I will force a crash. I have attached 3 screenshots of the bug, however.
Crash report that seems to be bugged somehow.
I have attached the crash report, although I do not know if it detected things right. It seems to think that I am using a modded jar, although it is vanilla. It even says no suspicious classes were found. But that may be part of the problem.
EDIT: Looking through the crash report, about all of the information about the world is wrong. The name, the seed, enabled structures, and even cheats setting is listed wrong.
EDIT2: I know what it is, I was using a different launcher. Although I have seen this bug happen with the vanilla launcher in 1.6.1 Pre.
@INDeeDO
For AMD the setting is in the Catalyst Control Center. On Windows 7 just type ccc into the start menu and it should show up. The issue for me, however, is that AMD does not force an application to use a specific GPU; it just recommends one. Apparently Minecraft or LWJGL ignores the recommendation, and goes to the first installed GPU, which varies per computer.
@Kumasasa
Umm no its not?
MC-297is about minecraft being unable to find the video card drivers. This is about the screen view remaining shrunk when the window is resized.This bug appears to be partially fixed, sometimes the game will resize the internal view after loading like pre-1.6. It still happens in some cases, so I think it is a matter of timing.
Can you post the output of the development console?
I can confirm this.
@Gilbo
Yes, that is what kumasasa wanted. Looking at your report, I think this may actually be a different bug then the one in this thread. Was there anything else? A crash report in another tab of the launcher maybe?
Someone on reddit reported that any difficulty besides peaceful caused their FPS to drop form 20-30 to around 5. I thought It was related to a chunk error spamming mobs, but now that I think about it the guy was on a server like the one matthew described, and he was unable to find any chunk errors using 3rd party software. His lag was also much like the lag described here.
I cannot confirm this. I created a new hardcore world, immediately jumped in some water and drowned, hit delete world -> back to title screen, went to my world list, and the world was not there.
I can confirm this. I was on my way to report it.
What stops them from typing? I have never had this issue before (with command blocks, not tested with different players).
Can't confirm, with sticky or normal pistons.
I get what you are saying. Basically zombies can track villagers through leaves but not players?
Ah, just confirmed this.
@Angus Clark
I was waiting to vote until I was able to confirm this.
This is intended. It was added in 1.6, I believe. It is so that killing mobs in creative does not cause you to accidentally destroy something.
My maps always start in the bottom left corner since 1.5. I thought it was an intentional change.
This has happened to me, although I don't know where the server is located. I am in the US.
Are you in a location with a firewall, like a school? If I try to log into a server at my school I get this screen with the HTML headers of the "Page Blocked" warning.
@Patrick
I have been trying to get this to work for a week and I cannot get the piston to break the sand. It's just a piston facing up with a sand block on top powered by a 1-clock, right?
You know I once tried to manually update LWJGL in 1.4.something, and the FPS was so bad I force-updated to get it back.
My sister's unmodded game gives out of memory screens like the one showed, I believe. Just this morning I caused it (with optifine installed) by inputting 1300 instead of 1300M for the memory amount.
I can confirm this. I believe (have not tested) that changing the release date in the .json file to an older date will fix this.
I finally made this happen in SP. It did not cause block lag or FPS lag, but entities stuttered, and falling items would glitch a lot, as well as taking forever to fall. Mobs such as creepers move between fazes of slow, laggy movement and hyper-speed, such as moving so fast they appear to be teleporting and creepers blow up instantly. The way to make this bug occur easily is to get a group of zombies (i had 15-25) to chase you, and then tower up 2 or 3 blocks. This seems to happen most at 2, when the zombie constantly push at each other as they crowd around the base of the tower.
@Ray
I can confirm this. A friend and I had made a 20-block tall tower to snipe mobs from, and while running from about 100 blocks away to the tower I picked up a zombie. By the time I was at the top of the tower, the zombie was at the edge of my render distance (normal+40, I was using optifine) and was still tracking me. He walked all the way to the base of the tower until he was unable to get closer. The tower was in the middle of a field, and there were no obstructions between me and it.
I don't use a KVM switch, synergy, or anything like it. I do have some information about this bug however: It does not happen on all mice. It happens on most of my cheap manufacturer mice, but has never happened on any fancy or gaming mice I have used.
Attached crash report as requested.
How is this still unassigned!? It has 133 votes!
These are the most updated graphics drivers for my system. Standard drivers are not compatible with my system, so I must wait for HP to repackage them. I have tried to download the updated ones before, but they refuse to install saying "This driver package is not compatible with this system. Please use vendor-provided drivers instead." and link me to HP's website. The newest there are from 2011, and I believe these may be the newest I will ever get.
I will try them, but from the page:
My laptop has switchable graphics (even though they are disabled as they are not compatible with Minecraft) so it will probably not work.
EDIT: OK looks like this one worked! Want me to see if this still happens with the new drivers?
EDIT2: Issue did not happen in my (very short) test, but I had to close the game because the graphics were extremely glitchy and the lag was incredible. I will probably be reverting drivers if optifine does not fix this.
EDIT3: Ah I know what happened, the updated drivers disabled switchable graphics and minecraft reverted to integrated graphics.
I have confirmed that the issue still occurs with updated graphics drivers in vanilla. I also have more information about it. This issue occurs most often during PVP, especially when I am using all mouse functions at once. Left and Right clicking at the same time (which is common in PVP), scrolling through the hotbar, and moving the mouse have a high chance of causing this for me. Moving around and jumping may effect it, as well as being knocked back by a player. I will upload a new crash report.
EDIT: This server was modded, but I can confirm that this happens on vanilla single player. I just used a server since PVP causes this so much.
@Angus
I believe this may be a very simple thing to mod, and I also believe I know a way to still make the zombie track you. If you leash a villager to you and leave it room to hang down under the floor then the zombie will track the villager, who is tied to you. Once he gets close enough to see you he will attack (I believe).
@Vincent
I would consider this a bug as well, but a mod closed it as works as intended.
This is still an issue in 13w36b. Also dirt is affected.
I can confirm this. Playing maximized causes a consistent drop in framerate.
@monkeybee
No the grassless dirt is the dirt block with data value one. Grass is unable to grow onto grassless dirt, so it makes sense that mycelium should be unable to as well.
@ Mahamatan
I will test this as soon as I am done updating my graphics drivers. They keep reverting to using my integrated graphics in stead of dedicated, which may be related.
EDIT: Finally done with an absolutely HORRIBLE round of update-uninstall-reinstall between factory default drivers, AMD drivers, and Intel drivers so I was able to test this. In my case max FPS on normal render distance gave about 175 FPS at normal window size, 110 at nearly maximized, 85 at maximized, and 110 fullscreen. Maximized definitely had a serious impact on FPS. I am going to go test at far render distance and I will update with the numbers there.
EDIT2: Here it is with far: 130 normal window size, 120 somewhat enlarged, 100 nearly maximized, and 90 both maximized and fullscreen. It seems far render distance does not have the bug the same way. I will test with short/tiny and see what happens there.
EDIT3: On short the change was even more dramatic. 330 FPS normal size, 240 somewhat expanded, 170 nearly maximized, and 160 both fullscreen and maximized.
EDIT4: Tiny even more so: normal was 500 FPS (new record for me, even with optifine! Good job mojang!), somewhat maximized was 320, almost maximized 250, 190 maximized, and 180 fullscreen.
@ Brian
That is the standard minecraft crash report that many people would like to see the whole of. In any case, it is not that much info.
@Mahamatan
Actually I'm on a laptop with 1GB graphics. That is why I was so surprised at the FPS! On 1.6.2 with all settings on fancy I get around 30 FPS with vanilla, and 120 with optifine. Here on the same render distance I got 130 with vanilla! Also attaching a crash report. I can also confirm the bug where the launcher thinks the game is modded even though the crash report says it is not.
I can confirm, although the block was off by 2 in both X and Z.
@ Branden
Technical blocks were not removed, they were just made to be impossible to keep in the inventory.
I have encountered this many times in 1.6.2. Confirmed.
This happens to me as well.
@Talven81
I just tested on 13w38c, and even with a horde of 300 zombies the lag was no more than with 300 of any other entity. Looks pretty much fixed to me.
I can confirm that this happens in 1.7 / 1.7.1. The snapshot before that was not NEARLY so bad. The frame-drop in 1.7.1 is bad enough to negate all the performance improvements that have been added since 1.6.4.
This has not happened in 1.7.2, so I assume it is fixed. I can not test the newer snapshots as I lost access to Minecraft Realms.
@Talven81
This still happens with the latest MC and Launcher.
@Talven81
This has not happened to me in 1.7.2.
@Ezekiel
This has not happened to me in any of the post-1.7.2 snapshots.
@Ezekiel
This is still an issue with those versions, and in 14w02c it is even more of an issue. (I have not tested the other two snapshots)
@Galaxy_2Alex
This effects all versions through 14w03b
I can confirm, also there is no stack trace or console message.
Confirmed as well.
Confirmed, and also related is that items cannot be shift-clicked into the slot even if some of that type of item are already there.
Confirmed. I believe they are lit up both stuck into a block and while in flight.
