I'm not sure, MC-115025 is really a duplicate.
In MC-114943 you put items into the grid, then select a recipe. The target item gets created and the items put into the grid are deleted.
In MC-115025 the recipe pulls the ingredients out of the inventory, then deletes the ingredient which happens to be beneath the mouse pointer and fails to craft the target item. (I have now attached a video to MC-115025)

Whoa, this report isn't about clicking on buttons also dropping things, this report is about the fact that items can be dropped anywhere in the recipe interface – even with right-click when you aren't interacting with any buttons.
EDIT: If you think they're similar enough to be merged, would you mind adding this information to the description of MC-115025?

Left or right-clicking while holding an item stack has different results in different parts of different inventories.
✔ = makes sense
✘ = needs change
Most Inventories and Containers:
✔ Right and left-click both drop items only when outside the GUI area.
Creative Menu:
✘ Right-click drops an item anywhere unless you're hovering over a slot.
✔ Left-click drops the items anywhere except for when hovering over a slot or tab.
Recipe Interface:
✘ Right and left-click both fail to drop items in the area where tabs can appear, even when not hovering over a tab.

You don't have access to them yet.
Still happens in 17w17a when clicking tabs. The tab will be switched and any item in your hand will be dropped.
Still happens in 1.12 pre-2 when clicking to open the recipe book while holding an item. The inventory shift can put the item outside the inventory and it will be dropped.
Note that pressing the mouse button down on the recipe book without releasing will shift the inventory, but will not drop the item. The item is dropped on mouse release.
