Death by campfire is discovering the floor is lava?
When the player dies from a campfire, it acts just like the magma block and does not make sense. How on earth is standing in a campfire even remotely related to making a breakthrough discovery about the floor being lava? That is rather odd, I must say, as campfires are not magma. In general, certain programming practices, such as copying and pasting code, are best avoided.

Either a duplicate of
MC-141899because it provides more info (as was the case withMC-140949andMC-140950), or vice versa because they both focus on the same issue.Yellow01, there's a HUGE difference between
MC-140949andMC-140950. This bug is well explained, they probably did use the same method as magma blocks, thats why it has the same message. The bug is very simple, and this report explains it well enough.I think Mojang just copied and pasted the code for magma blocks
I think it would be funny if the death message was changed to "Player is now a s'more"
This doesn't seem to be a bug at all, because it's not like an error in the code occurred and the game is using the wrong message or anything like that, they clearly just utilized the magma block code when making campfires, so for all intents and purposes, the current behavior is intentional but temporary.
Are you sure, @Aaron Rhodes? Campfires aren't lava, obviously.
It's "Campfire Damage" in Wiki, and it doesn't seem to be a bug.
Damage[edit
Campfires damage living entities standing on top of them even if underwater (with exceptions such as shulkers or guardians), whether lit or unlit, dealing 1 (
) of damage every tick (although damage immunity reduces this to once every half-second). Unusually though, being related to fires, campfires do not deal real fire damage like normal fires, nor destroy items. Though; damage taken is considered fire damage and is reduced by armor, shields, the Resistance potion effects, and the Protection and Fire Protection enchantments. Armor will take damage, but a shield will not. The player can avoid being damaged at all, either by sneaking, using a potion of fire resistance, or by wearing Frost Walker boots, similar to magma blocks. Blocks that are the height of a trapdoor or lower (such as carpets) will not prevent a campfire from damaging mobs and players above it.
@David Tommy, minecraft wiki is not written by the MOJANG.
@David Tommy, the bug isn't that campfires act the same as magma blocks, but that the death message is "(player) discovered the floor was lava" when campfires are not lava.Just figured out that you highlighted the part where it says "lit or unlit". See the comment above.
