Pretty similar to MC-20010.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

It is possible to throw items away/out of your inventory when you are dead and the inventory was open
Is this still an issue in the most recent versions (i.e. 1.10.2, or 16w42a) of Minecraft?
Fixed sometime between 1.8.9 and 1.9.4.
