You can use pick-block on a smelting furnace and you will get a placeable forever-burning furnace.
Also, related to MC-7133, it has a bad texture in the inventory.

Though it looks fine everywhere else, the furnace still is using the faceless icon in the achievement screen. Possibly related to MC-7133?

Just adding in my picture of the broken achievement icon, since I believe the two issues are related.
They are. Although the achievement icon uses the off-state furnace.
I thought it used the off-state furnace, but I guess I was wrong. Still a bug nonetheless.

Fixed in 14w07a, at least for me
Indeed fixed. The furnace was replaced by ID 61 in the achievements, and works normally in the inventory.
Well, this is unfixed again. Now it uses the texture of the furnace top as it's item texture, and would appear intended.
Well, you cannot expect it to look right at this item is not intended for standard use.
